Hello! I am looking to make reproduction Argentine FAL ammo pouches, and wondered if anyone had an idea what the clasps were, or how to get hold of them. Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for a supplier of spring steel shims to be used as reinforcements on thumb break holsters. I scavenged this one off of an older holster. 1" on center x 1/2" width would be good. (I hope the photo's big enough, Sheesh!

I was watching a video today on YouTube by my favorite leatherworker. He was using a metal roller on leather to depress the saddle stitching into a groove. I thought it was so cool. I grabbed my tin of antique sofa rollers, some wood for a chair I'm restoring, six metal ones and 3 hard plastic ones from the 40s. I dumped them in a pickle solution on the side of my cooker, and in about 30 minutes brushed them clean and buffed them, took some old wood handles for my round wood files, used the wood files to enlarge the holes a bit and put them in. I love it when I can find stuff around here to use that I need not spend money on.

I came across this and found it amusing had to post it. I wouldn't ever even think about putting a 1/2 of MDF under a industrial sewing machine or metal. Could be very dangerous. Enjoy the video.

Hello, I've been trying to find a supplier to order american made hardware from. Preferably hardware with matte and/or antique brass finish. But mainly just looking for hardware made in the United States. I do a lot of strap and belt making, so I'm looking for American-made rivets, split key rings, o rings, d rings, reducing loops, buckles, etc. I have no idea where to look. Google hasn't been any help. There are no local manufactures in my area. The owner of www.TapAndDye.com uses all American hardware, so I know it's out there. I asked him, but never heard back. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I'm not having good luck using the search engine, and I'm sure the answer I want is in the Forum somewhere. I make mostly knife sheaths, and I like a sewn on belt loop. Keeps metal away from the blade. The knifemaker just sold something to a guy who has a disability that prevents him wearing a belt. He's asked for a sheath with a metal clip. Since I don't like them, I've never done one. Is the answer to line the sheath? Which would mean two thinner layers of leather? And is there a way to attach them firmly to the sheath? The ones we have here look like the slide through a slot. What I'm thinking of is to cut two pieces of thinner leather than I'd usually use for a sheath, one for the lining; put the clip through the outside layer only; then contact cement both pieces together and go on stitching up the sides. The knife is a punch dagger, which will need a strap and Sam Brown stud (I don't like them either -- metal inside the sheath where it touches the knife blade). So I'd put that through the outer leather and secure it too, before lining. If I'm messing up here, I'd like to know. I've seen someone with a belt clip that isn't metal and seems to be attached to the sheah with a non-metal rivet. I've asked him about what he's using, but I bet you guys are faster. Thanks in advance, and happy New Year!

Have a customer that is interested in getting keyfobs made but would like to get this type of set up if I can find a supplier without needing to buy a few thousand of them. I've tried searching google but my google-fu is letting me down. Any ideas?

I've got a round bar with a threaded countersunk plate on one end made for my drill press hoping it would convert it to a dedicated embossing press but the impressions are very weak. So far I can only get it to make a okay impression on veg tan if I wet the surface. Any suggestions would be appreciated to try and get a better result from it. My housemate said drill presses don't really exert pressure, so I guess that's my issue. I've tried to put different sized bricks underneath to see if the spring will compress more but it doesn't. I wanted it to do quick stamping jobs.

I have bought a couple of brass belt buckles from tandy, but 5 dollars a piece seems a little pricey. Also, I am curious about what type(s) of metal is best for use with leather? I dont want anything that will leave any residue or anything on the leather, or anything that will bend/break. Is there a good website that gives measurements and is of reasonable price? Thanks! What's up guys- I'm in the middle of designing a prototype and I have come to a point where it is not possible to proceed without certain machined/fabricated parts being made. I am looking for services to complete the request. I have complete detailed plans and specs available to share, that I am attaching here. There are three components of the part- a metal piece about 1x1x1'' that I believe will be constructed from sheet metal, a flat wood piece that should by stained plywood, and screw posts for holding the leather. None of these parts I would assume would be available. I am of course willing to pay for the services rendered. Any ideas guys? Feel free to pass my gmail email along (citrusvanilla@) Justin, Rockaway Beach, New York

Commercial conchos tend to be limited in their designs and styles, and I've often wished I could turn a metal pin, badge, or brooch into something that I can attach to a belt or dog collar. I have a Star Trek fan to make a Christmas gift for, and I'd love to attach a metal communicator icon to a belt I'm making. I can get metal communicator pins for about $5. Yes, I could just tool it, but it would be so much better if I could attach the pin itself. How would you go about doing this? What tools would be required?

I have designs to put together a costume for conventions. there are very few characters who have a body shape/type similar enough to mine for me to truly do them justice. Then there is Needles Kane. Aka: Sweet Tooth. I need a brown leather body harness like the one pictured in the above image, one that attaches to pants (I'll pay you extra if you can make the pants to go with the leather harness too!) Is anyone here interested?

From the album: Some of my work
I designed and made a metal detecting sheath in an ambidextrous configuration to carry the popular style of diggers and pinpointers. Made from brown oil stoned leather. Hand stitched.© Blackriverlaser.com - 2013

I'm looking for some knowledgable person to give some input on how they might tuck some sting ray skin under a metal surrounding edge. I picture it being like carpentry, tucking carpet under the wall's edge? but how would you go about it? or is there another way?
