Hi All - New to the forums and wanted some feedback on my companies' leather craft. All our products are handmade. Hand stitched, hand burnished, we hammer in our copper rivets by hand. We use only full grain, vegetable tanned leather (quebracho, mimosa blend). We'd love some feedback, especially on our rolls - see attached photos. They are really functional, but we're looking for suggestions, features to add, or general improvements to the design. Any suggestions for how you'd use them? Features you would like to see ideally? Each slot of the center strap tool roll with the wrenches adjusts so you can put various items inside. The art / pen and pencil rolls have the side pocket for extra storage which closes on its own when rolled. More photos on our website: https://altaandina.com/products/

Hi, Has anyone an deep knowledge about the differences between FULL GRAIN PIG LEATHER and SPLIT COW LEATHER? Over here I started to Switch to full grain pig leather due to it being cheaper and IMHO stronger (doesnt rip at all) and it is dyed. Before I bought the expensier cow leather which they sold me for full grain but in reality I am sure it is split leather. I can rip it when applied with force. Cow leather is not dyed at all. I for my part like pig leather better since it's full grain and sometimes softer than the cow leather. But customers do not trust as much the longevity and durability of pig leather and so I ask here if someone knows some deeper knowledge about the differences. Quality, durability, stays soft - gets hard over time, etc. See here some works from pig leather versus cow leather. Second below (dark) leather item is full grain pig leather (Smartphone case). First below (light coloured) leather is an pistol Holster from split cow leather.

Good Evening all, I am completely new to leather and have just been buying whole and part hides off eBay in order to get to know leather and practice working with it. I've been paying about £80 per hide, chrome tanned. I now know what I want (I think) but I don't really know where to buy. I ideally want a supplier in Spain as that is where I will need it shipped. I'm looking for full grain veg tan around 2mm thick. I have been in touch with Tandy which are based in Spain for their Europe outfit so that's perfect for shipping costs, however, their range seems limited and for the money they are asking, I don't want to part cash if there is a greater option out there which I'm sure there is and hoping one of you can help. Your help is greatly appreciated. In case someone has some advice, the leather is for tote style bags and similar. The handles are to be made from 2.8-3.2mm veg tanned Spanish shoulder single thickness. So if anyone has any other suggestions for types of leather for the bags, I would love to hear them. Many thanks.

Hey everyone, First post! I came here for your opinion on a recent purchase - a full grain leather belt from a company called Slidebelts. I made this $85 investment hoping to get a belt that i can take care of and maintain so it will last me a very long time. When the belt came, i noticed it appears to be two pieces of leather glued together with two light layers separated by a darker layer in the middle that i am assuming is glue (see pics). I was expecting one piece of leather, although it does not specifically say its one piece in the item description... Based on the picture, am i looking at 2 pieces glued together, is this common practice for a full grain leather belt, does this defeat the purpose / decrease the longevity of the belt? I'm feeling like i may have been bamboozled and would like to make this a learning experience. Thanks for your insight!

Hey guys, Just wanted to post some pictures of the belts we've started making. I think we've finally got the process down, but as many of you know, there is always more to learn. Next step is to try the neatsfoot oil/beeswax mixture as a sealant and finisher. Right now, we're using a 50/50 mix of Acrylic Resolene and water.

My company needs someone to produce simple & nice wallets for my leather laser engraving business. First we order a sample. Then we order 10-20 depending on your price and requirements. Then we continue to order more as our stock diminishes from sales. We are hoping to build a long term and ongoing relationship with a problem solving organization/craftsman who can keep help us keep up with our demands. Attached are sample pictures of a wallet style we like... It could be a bit different but, this is the general idea of what we like. We want the thick stitched rustic look. If you have ideas or variations we are open to them. Requirements: Full or Top Grain Leather Semi-Aniline? Thick stitching (pref. nylon thread) Very Good quality Please tell me why you are a good fit for this project? This would be a contract arrangement. Also how much would you charge per wallet? Qnty. 10, 20, 50, 100 Thank you! BryanOakley22@gmail.com

This is my first post, but I have been lurking for quite some time, nut I have finally decided to tap into the collective knowledge of this site. I have been actively looking for a "Full Grain" leather that is drum dyed throughout. I need the leather to be preferrably 5/6oz with the 7oz being the absolute max thickness. I do not care if the leather is veg tan, chrome tanned, or oil tanned. It just needs to wear well, and be able to patina with time and use. I have searched different suppliers and goods manufactures to try to find the ellusive hide. The closest thing I can find would be the leather Saddleback uses for their products, but I am confused because Dave Munson says that he uses chrome tanned leather, but everything else I have read has said that Chrome tanned will not Patina. And I know from experience that SB leather ages very well. I have ordered from Weaver, Waterhouse, Tandy, and Springfield. So basically I am looking for a full grained, 5/6oz, fully dyed bropwn leather that will age well. Does anyone know of a supplier that has such a hide. Or does anyone know of a specific hide from the above manufatures that fits this criteria? I am open to any help I can get...thanks -Jake
