Has anyone shopped at https://buyleatheronline.com/en/ ? Any feedback in terms of the quality? Their prices seem to be very interesting. And given where I am, online is pretty much the only choice.

I've typically just bought from the shop in town. But at the rate I go through leather it's adding up and got me thinking that I should consider other options, everything else I use I tend to buy wholesale and this got me going down the rabbit hole of the internet trying to find a Canadian tannery or wholesale option. I've had no luck with this with the exception of a couple guys that tan leather out of deer hides or I might find a supplier that's little cheaper but then the shipping costs within Canada make it not worth it. Right now I'm using around 6-8oz latigo leather for strapping on backpacks and paying around $15CAD a sqf which seems to be the going rate in Canada for retail? Has anyone found a good online supplier, tannery or wholesale in Canada? Similar to Hide House or anything like that? There are quite a few options in the US but as other Canadians know it's the shipping and duties that kill that option and make it too pricey. Curious if anyone has found anything in Canada? Or if you're Canadian and buy from the US what's your experience like and who have you used?

Hey, I am trying to buy a proper Draw Gauge online. Quality is the most important thing to me, and I want to get the best return for my money. Is "Weaver Leathercraft" a good website to buy from? Thanks for your help, Karl

i'm a new leatherworker in Thailand, here, I cannot find any good quality hardware stores. Where could I find some good quality hardware (as brass or copper button studs, fasteners, snap plates, magnetic bag clasp plate etc.) online in Asia? I heard that HONGKONG is the best place, is it right?

Welcome to my rant! A few weeks ago I was in need of some veg tan to complete a project. I normally buy my leather from W&C...everything I've gotten there was above my expectations and the folks there are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately they were shut down for maintenance and I'd have to wait several weeks to get the leather, so I asked for advice here on a good place to buy a side. Before I go further let me state that I don't blame the person who made the recommendation at all....my issue is with the vendor. I went to the recommended web site and looked through their options, opting for the higher grade, and higher priced, "Hermann Oak " side. I put the brand in quotes because quite frankly I have doubts that a well-known company like Hermann Oak would ship what I received to distributors to sell as quality veg tan. I'll be the first to admit that I am picky. I am my own worst critic and do my best to provide a quality product to my customers, even if it means scrapping a project I've spent hours on and starting over because of a little mistake that I'm the only one who will ever notice. I would like to believe that I can expect some level of quality and integrity from the those I choose to patronize as well. Please have a look at the photos I've attached. Am I being too harsh in thinking this looks like something that's been kicked into a corner and laying there for God only knows how long? Have you ever made an online purchase and ended up with something far less than you expected? If so, what did you do? Should I send these pictures to someone at Hermann Oak and ask them if they actually produce and sell something like this? Do I need a tropical vacation complete with all I can drink margaritas? Oh, wait, I can answer the last one. In one picture I put a piece of leather I got at a Tandy store about 8 years ago for comparison. I've intentionally failed to mention the vendor by name...I am waiting for a response from them before I do that. Thanks for listening.

I am new to leatherworking. I bought a 6 oz side of discount Veg Tan from Tandy and a 4 oz Veg Tan shoulder. I have been working with them both, and while the shoulder quality doesnt seem too bad. The side could be better. The flesh side seems really uneven and full of long fibers. I don't know if thats a normal thing or not. I hear tandys leather isnt that great overall. I hear amazing things about horweens chromexcel, among others, but I'm assuming it is really expensive. I also have heard that springfeild has some decent leather. All in all, I want to buy some good quality leather without spending a ton of money for making belts, collars, wallets, key fobs, etc... What are some good suggestions? Thanks Zayne

Greetings, Just wondering what are some suggestions for online marketing? Currently I use Facebook, Etsy and my own website to market my leather items. To date, most of my sales have been made in person at local Farmer Markets in my area. Are there any good sites or avenues for selling products online? Thanks.
