Thescandall Report post Posted April 21, 2022 Bullit hates the water hose but loves mud holes. Makes it tough on me. I doubt I’ll ever make him anything fancy. Kinda pointless
tsunkasapa Report post Posted April 21, 2022 I had a sled dog like that. LOVED to roll in nasty, stinky stuff. And screamed like she was being skinned when I washed her. A neighbor actually came up the block to make sure she wasn't dying.
Handstitched Report post Posted April 22, 2022 This brings back memories. I spent all day washing , shampooing , grooming a horse I once had , hooves and all, it was all nice and pretty, ....and what does it do? Roll in the dirt HS
fredk Report post Posted April 22, 2022 I once had a beagle hound who always managed to find the fresh wet cow pats when we went for a walk. Even in fields where no cattle were he found a wet pat to roll in. He used to walk home with head and tail held high, like he was proud of his new over-coat[ing]. He was a retired Crufts Dog Show champion. We reckoned he was rebelling against all the pampering and beautifying he used to get
Handstitched Report post Posted April 22, 2022 @fredk The ladies love it....apparently . Maybe I should try some eh? Ha!
Thescandall Report post Posted April 22, 2022 He’s supposed to be a Tennessee Walker and all sporty and stuff. Not much different than a hog tho.
Klara Report post Posted April 23, 2022 He sure has a nice trot when free - can you get him to trot under a rider? My favourite way for getting off dried mud is this type of curry comb https://www.amazon.com/Hffheer-Itching-Shedding-Stainless-Grooming/dp/B0825Y37K3 Regarding my dog I am extremely lucky: She actually rolls next to the smelly thing, not exactly in it. It's enough for her nose, but not mine...
Thescandall Report post Posted April 23, 2022 Klara , He will and it’s smooth. But right now he's being a pasture ornament cuz I’m too busy to ride him. Building a house and full time job keeps me moving.
Sheilajeanne Report post Posted April 23, 2022 (edited) The horse I used to own was a flea-bitten gray, whose coat was almost completely white, except for the so-called flea bites. There was a stream that ran through the paddock where they turned her out. EVERY TIME she would stop when she got to the stream, paw the water for a bit, then lie down and wallow like a hog! When she was done the one side, she'd get up, lie down again, and treat the other side to a mud bath! Fortunately, this was always at the start of her time at pasture. By the time she returned to her stall for her supper, most of the mud would have dried and fallen off, so she would be reasonably clean when I came after work to ride her!
