Members Bawarrior Posted September 3, 2022 Members Report Posted September 3, 2022 Finished the twins ball and powder 1863. Nope not identical twins, but twins never the less. Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted September 3, 2022 Contributing Member Report Posted September 3, 2022 All I can say, is . . . WoW! There must be a lot of very careful work in them In the top photo one holster has its skirt out of the way. What way have you got the skirt loop affixed that you can do that? Quote
Doc Reaper Posted September 3, 2022 Report Posted September 3, 2022 Nice job, I gotta love an attractive set of twins Quote

Members Bert03241 Posted September 3, 2022 Members Report Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) Beautiful Twins very nice work Which one was born first? LOL I always thought it was Cap and Ball Edited September 3, 2022 by Bert03241 Quote
Members Bawarrior Posted September 3, 2022 Author Members Report Posted September 3, 2022 Bert03241 it does seem to be Cap and Ball or Black Powder and Ball. Either way I was wrong...haha. Like this is a first Quote
Members dikman Posted September 3, 2022 Members Report Posted September 3, 2022 Yep, the common terminology is cap and ball. That is very, very nice work indeed! The carving is what I was trying to achieve on my first attempt at carving a holster (and didn't quite get there). Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted September 4, 2022 Contributing Member Report Posted September 4, 2022 I would call that firearm 'cap & ball' and I associate 'powder & ball ' with a flintlock firearm Quote
Contributing Member Samalan Posted September 4, 2022 Contributing Member Report Posted September 4, 2022 Nice work this is just opinion I think the black in the back round was really not necessary it's a very stark contrast which makes your eyes look at what parts are dark and what parts are not then it starts to look inconsistent it makes me think of a beautiful woman with bright red lipstick and very heavy black eye liner she just don't need it but all that said you did a beautiful job . Members Bawarrior Posted September 4, 2022 Author Members Report Posted September 4, 2022 Samalan, I do agree. It looked just fine before. My brain said you can make it nicer. No reason for black, lesson learned. Thanks Quote

Thanks was not sure how you would take that but I did a wood carving and like you thought wow it would be nicer with a black back round almost just when i started i thought nope this is not good but I got it done stepped back took a look and in the junk pile it went LOL we have all done it your work is very nice my friend don't let that set you back I know you wont . Members Bawarrior Posted September 5, 2022 Author Members Report Posted September 5, 2022 Funny all went well, owner John loved the holsters. Now he want sheath for his bowie. Quote
Members Bawarrior Posted October 2, 2022 Author Members Report Posted October 2, 2022 Bowie sheath for twins Quote
Members doubleh Posted October 2, 2022 Members Report Posted October 2, 2022 So the twins have a cousin in the Bowie? It's nice too. This is the first time I have ever heard cap and ball guns referred to as ball and powder but will be the first to admit I haven't heard everything. Quote
Members Bawarrior Posted October 2, 2022 Author Members Report Posted October 2, 2022 Doubleh I was only familiar with leather working. This was my 1st time seeing pistols like these. Pretty funny should have done some research, haha oh well Quote
