Fraulein Report post Posted June 11, 2023 Hey all! Haven't posted anything on the forum in awhile but thought I'd share one of my recent projects. Put this little tote bag together in a couple hours for a last minute birthday present for mom. I never have ideas for what to make people till it's almost too late to get them done lol! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This was my first try at decorative stitching and I really like how it looks. One unique feature that I'm really liking on this is that I used a really long zipper which enabled the zipper flaps to fold down completely out of the way on the inside so there's an option to leave it as an open top bag or zippered. Thanks for looking! Always open to tips and suggestions!

Paulin631 Report post Posted June 12, 2023 Beautiful bag. Im new to leather. I've been working on my first tote. Takes a bit of time to gather all supplies and research. I hope to make a bag like yours someday. Hand skiving large pieces holding me back right now.

The best gifts are the ones we make ourselves Thats very nicely done. I can't fault that at all . Maybe a matching monogrammed key ring with the same leather perhaps ? Definitely takes some time to get going with leather, but every project will get easier. Keep at it! 5 hours ago, PastorBob said: Nicely done. that is sharp. Might be on to something with that key ring, now if I only remember it when the next holiday comes around... 4 hours ago, chuck123wapati said: beautiful work, I'm thinking matching pocket book next. Thank you! Pocket book is a tempting idea too, might have to try both... 32 minutes ago, Heartless said: Very nice! I like the zipper idea. Thank you! The zipper thing just kinda happened, didn't start out with a plan to do that, but started looking at how it was coming together and the idea formed itself

Actually I did try but didn't have much success trying to burnish the edges. I tried gum Trag and it just didn't really seem to do anything when I tried to burnish it. So any advice on that would be greatly appreciated
