Members Gregamee Posted January 23, 2024 Members Report Posted January 23, 2024 I just downloaded Leathercraft CAD. Looks pretty good on my first look. Has anyone tried this? Anyone has some thoughts to share? Quote
Members jrdunn Posted January 23, 2024 Members Report Posted January 23, 2024 I'm downloading it and going to see how far it is above my abilities. How much success have you had with it? Can you create laser ready files with it? Quote
Members jrdunn Posted January 26, 2024 Members Report Posted January 26, 2024 Just an update. My antivirus did not like it. I assume that it was just from an unverified host but wasn't willing to take the risk. (Been there, did that and got the T-shirt.) Quote
Members RichardP Posted January 30, 2024 Members Report Posted January 30, 2024 Yes, It is an excellent software. watch tutorials and watch for software updates. There is only one developer so sending him feedback will make the software better. I had a version that would not work on my laptop and he quickly responded in email and gave me a previous version while the new one was fixed. Also, I have been able to accomplish large bag sixe patterns with this and it prints correctly. Quote
Members CJJ Posted January 30, 2024 Members Report Posted January 30, 2024 Wow! I'm so glad you made this thread. I had no idea this existed and have been searching for something exactly like it. Quote
Members philw Posted February 17, 2024 Members Report Posted February 17, 2024 The developer is really responsive to issues/feature requests. I hit an issue with SVG imports and he's already given me a workaround and will be incorporating SVG feature manipulation into a future release. I've used it to generate a laser ready file for LightBurn. Just a simple credit card holder, nothing too complex so far, but it worked just fine. Was great to be able to layout the stitching holes in Leathercraft Cad then burn them in LightBurn Quote
Members Bert03241 Posted February 18, 2024 Members Report Posted February 18, 2024 I downloaded it but it looks like a big learning curve. I already know corel so Im gonna stick with that . It does all i want Quote
Members sympa78 Posted May 2, 2024 Members Report Posted May 2, 2024 Hello, I'm using this software which is only dedicaded to the leather craft. Have already make some pattern and it's pretty well done and easy with this software. The only thing that it don't appreciate is the printer choice as you have to use a PDF. The author of this software is working on the integration of the layers. I'll follow this project and help the author because it's a fantastic software and it's totally free. Quote
Members Myz Posted Sunday at 06:35 AM Members Report Posted Sunday at 06:35 AM (edited) This software looks awesome. Has anyone tried importing hand drawn templates? If so how did you go about it? TIA. On 1/27/2024 at 6:51 AM, jrdunn said: Just an update. My antivirus did not like it. I assume that it was just from an unverified host but wasn't willing to take the risk. Members PastorBob Posted yesterday at 04:42 PM Members Report Posted yesterday at 04:42 PM I have also seen it advertised. Too leery to try it. There seems to be some reviews out there, but all the authors seem to have a very short time on any of the forums where they are posting (like less than 10 posts). Quote

I always template paper copy first but use leathercraftCAD to get them digitised and easily reprintable/distributable. Its very rare that I contribute to forums, i'd rather sit back and soak in the knowledge unless I have something meaningful to add (which is rare) but when it comes to this piece of software I have actually been blown away by its ease of use and the support offered by its developer. I've been using the software for about 3 years and it has had several significate changes along the way but I really cant express enough how valuable the software is to me after the initial learning curve dropped off. Members dirk87 Posted 5 hours ago Members Report Posted 5 hours ago I am using it allot, its easy to use the basic functions. It’s not perfect but by far the best tool to plan your patterns for stitching. I like to estimate my dimensions then draw it up in leathercraft CAD to see how my stitch placement looks and adjust the dimensions. Then i draw it in fusion 360 and 3d print my patterns. So far used it for wallets and watch straps. Quote
