Deanr Report post Posted May 20 I just finished a holster for a S&W model 686. I don't make many holsters and I wanted to try some ideas. Originally I was going to try a doc holiday style but decided on a simpler design. It has a belt clip mounted at an angle on the lower inside. I added a strap on top for support. I added the insert and backed it up with the cutout from the insert. It is lined with a thin veg tan. I'm happy the way it turned out. It goes to my son and thus the bigfoot concho. Jc911rsa Report post Posted July 6 Beautiful work! What is the leather inlay that you used? Thanks
Stingray73 Report post Posted July 6 (edited) Nice, do you have more pictures from other angles? Edited July 6 by Stingray73
Deanr Report post Posted July 7 Thanks for the compliments The inlay leather is from tandy. Manhattan single shoulder brick snake print. I cut out the inlay, then scribe and cut about 1/8 in smaller. Then push it on the back side of the inlay to give it definition, then glue and sew the liner in place. I have tried to resize my pictures. Hopefully they show up. Hags Report post Posted July 8 Nice work! One of my favorite revolvers.
AlZilla Report post Posted July 8 Now I understand the support strap you mentioned and the low mounted belt clip. So this is a sporting rig, not a concealed carry?
Deanr Report post Posted July 8 More of a sporting rig. I got the gun and wanted to make a holster for it. I gave it to my son and asked him what type of holster he wanted. With the right cover it could be used for carry but I never would.
