Members AWORKOFMARC Posted June 9, 2024 Members Report Posted June 9, 2024 I want to line the inside of a croc. leather wallet. However in doing a test piece on scrap leather using Barge, I find the thin liner leather wrinkles at the bend. I think the leather was about 0.8mm --would thinner leather, like say 0.5mm yield better results? Quote
Members Mablung Posted June 9, 2024 Members Report Posted June 9, 2024 Did you glue the lining with both pieces flat, or on the curve? Quote
Moderator immiketoo Posted June 9, 2024 Moderator Report Posted June 9, 2024 Bend the outside to a little more than 90 degrees and glue in the liner while it’s bent. Use a slicker or other smooth object to seat the glue and let dry. Your angle may vary depending on the leather you use so practice with scrap if you can. Quote
Members Bert03241 Posted June 9, 2024 Members Report Posted June 9, 2024 by gluing it while bent it will make the liner a little longer then the wallet and hopefully prevent the wrinkling Quote

Members Mablung Posted June 10, 2024 Members Report Posted June 10, 2024 immiketoo gave you the solution. Last piece I lined flat got wrinkled as well. I haven’t had the patience lately to try to line stuff on the curve and have just accepted I’ll have some wrinkling. Quote

The trade off is if you open the wallet all the way, you might have wrinkles on the outer piece. It’s a balancing act for sure. But since they’re closed most of the time, it ok Quote

Mine remains firmly squished in my front pocket most of the time, and I’d rather it stay closed and smooth easily than smooth when open. Quote
