Halter and lead for Western halter class.  The triple stitching barely fit in the 3/4" wide straps, but that's what the client wanted for a horse with a refined head.  The 8 ft lead is weighted (double thickness) on proximal half, and made from 10-11 oz Hermann Oak chocolate harness leather.  The client wanted brass hardware on the halter and a stainless lead chain so that's how we roll.

Tom,

That is a mighty fine piece of art that you created.  When you say weighted lead, did you add something more than extra leather?

Keep up the good work.

Thank you, Ron. The lead is 2 layers thick on the horse end. No additional weight added but it is much more substantial than what we use in the English halter classes.

@TomE

That lead looks fantastic! I am tempted to copy your design on that one.
Is that 3/4" or 1" wide straps that you have used for the lead?

Thanks, Jonas.  The lead is 1" wide.  Client wants a heavy lead for Western Showmanship in Hand classes.    She wanted the 3/4" straps for the halter to show off her horse's refined head.

Thanks @DieselTech!  I like the brass but I have a growing number of clients who do dressage and want black leather with silver hardware.  Beiler's and Zach White Leather have a nice selection of stainless hardware.

Thank you, @DJole.  Love the TBs.  They have improved many of the modern horse breeds, including the warmbloods that we breed.

TomE have you ever checked out Shaun Woodsum hand forged Damascus hardware? Just Beautiful stuff he makes.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to try & get a catalog from Beilers.

That is nice stuff.  I don't have much experience with Western tack, and most of my connections are in the English riding community.  Perhaps it's an area for future growth.

Thanks. Yeah I am such a newbie to the horse stuff, I don't know even differences between English & Western Tack. I got a good idea, but my idea/thoughts might be way off the wall.
