ajschroeder02 Report post Posted November 4 Struggling here - 1/4" and 3/8" inch letter stamping may be the death of me. I want to get a T bar to use with my Vevor press so I can just line them up and they don't move when I press down. I have tried going from the center out, using a guideline, etc. No matter what I do the slightest movement causes letters to look so dang wonky I can't send the product out. I have the Tandy stamp guide too but it's difficult to use with my press. Tips and tricks or places to order the letter stamp holder and not break my bank are appreciated! Thanks! What does your stamp style look like? Do they have the 3/8" socket that a stamping handle snaps into them? Also can we get a pic of the press you are using? Thanks. You may have to figure out a jig that'll work with your press and letter stamps. Get creative!

You may have to build a jig to hold the dies. I been wanting 1 of their presses myself & when I do get 1 I will build a jig for my letter stamps. Give me a second & I'll get a pic posted that may or may not be of help. I mainly use the 1" stamps, so I'm not sure if this technique will work for the small letters. ajschroeder02 Report post Posted November 4 I LOVE the press! I use Die Cutters with it for bookmarks, coasters, and cow tags along with letter stamping. I have no trouble with 1/2" and up stamps... It's those little 3/8" and 1/4" buggars that are SO testy. I have no clue how to even begin to make a jig. I am a teacher full time LOL

If No. Then we will go to picture 2,3,&4 I'm using double sided router/pattern tape to hold the letters to the paint sticks. Granted they are too wide, only need to be about 3/8" width. So I laid out the letters, then double sided taped the paint sticks. Then I sandwiched the letters between the paint sticks to hold all the letters at once. I think 3/8" popsicle sticks would be perfect for this. Edited November 4 by DieselTech
fredk Report post Posted November 4 (edited) I made this. It copes with any size of letter and is easy to make, with a couple of spacing bars. The top two bars are replaceable with others Another thing I do is; I've taken rubber molds of my letter sets and cast up resin letters which I then glue together I also have this; I made a couple. They're easy to make and adjust to any size of letter All these are used by me in my Tandy pro-press Edited November 4 by fredk
Dwight Report post Posted November 5 Go to Lowes . . . in their metal aisle . . . you will find aluminum and steel angle iron. Buy their 1/2 inch aluminum . . . cut it down to maybe 12 inch pieces (2) . . . Put masking tape on the bottom of each . . . and trim it with a razor knife. Aluminum can mark damp or wet leather . . . the tape stops that. Put your stamps in a row in the order you need them . . . and tape around the angle iron . . . For 1/4 and 3/8 stamps . . . forget the press . . . use a small mallet . . . Tape the angle iron down on the leather where you want it . . . stamp it . . . you're done. Small stamps like those do not need a press of any size. May God bless, Dwight
RockyAussie Report post Posted November 5 This post I did awhile back may help. I did make the jig in it for going over belts but it could easily be made to go over flat leather as well. Main advantage is that it can be adjusted to whatever stamp size you want and hold firmly in position at the same time.
