Members Bighearn Posted February 24, 2008 Members Report Posted February 24, 2008 Looks like a bag for a bike to me I like it. Quote
Kevin King Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks guys. Its a one-off toolbag for this bike. I think I spent more time thinking about how to do it than I did actually making it. Quote
esantoro Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks kevin I know what you mean about spending more time on thinking about the particular design than actually making the thing. ed Quote
TomSwede Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 It will be a jewel on that bike! The shape of it is just a very nice feature for suiting it to that bike. You sure have an eye for detail. Tom Quote
Ambassador freak Posted February 25, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted February 25, 2008 That's a killer bag my brotha !! Great bag design. WOW !! Quote
Kevin King Posted February 25, 2008 Author Report Posted February 25, 2008 Thanks guys. I'm not a huge fan of "traditional". There is no pattern for this one. KK Quote
ArtS Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 That looks great. I really like that thread on the black. Did you hand stitch the rest? Great job. ArtS Quote
Members Spider Posted February 25, 2008 Members Report Posted February 25, 2008 Kevin, I am not always a fan of traditional either and I really like this bag. I mean, why does every bag have to look like a loaf... Quote
Members Warren Posted February 25, 2008 Members Report Posted February 25, 2008 Kevin, you pulled it off again! Great job on a truly unique take on a tool bag. Looks like it will go along perfectly with the bikes theme. Who needs a pattern when you can make that! Warren Quote
howardb Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Awww, man I wanted to be the first one to post... I was gonna say " Hey kevin! That's a mighty unusual wallet ya got there". But, alas, I wasn't around to do that. So, mighty sweet bike bag Kevin! Brent Quote
Kevin King Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 (edited) I know! Not a wallet huh! See, I do know how to make other stuff. Thanks folks. That looks great. I really like that thread on the black. Did you hand stitch the rest? Great job.ArtS because of the odd shape of this bag I had in my head, making templates was a pain in the @$$. So, instead, I carved the shape of the bag out of styrofoam then used that as my template to get the right shapes for the curves and contours. I had to cut and hand stitch all five pieces together. Kevin, I am not always a fan of traditional either and I really like this bag. I mean, why does every bag have to look like a loaf... I have made a few of those bags you can buy in the motorcycle accy. pattern pack, they're nice, but why make one of those when you can make anything you can imagine. Just takes a little more thought is all. Again, thank you all for the compliments. KK Edited February 28, 2008 by Kevin King Quote
Members corter Posted February 28, 2008 Members Report Posted February 28, 2008 that's awesome! it looks machine sewn, if it is...you have a machine that goes through that thickness of leather? (sorry, real newb question haha) Quote
Kevin King Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 that's awesome! it looks machine sewn, if it is...you have a machine that goes through that thickness of leather? (sorry, real newb question haha) Yep. All the blue stitching is with my machine. The black is hand stitched. My juki will sew some purdy thick stuff. At one point on this bag I had to sew thru 3 layers (two 8/9 and one 6/7). KK Quote
Members RockyWolf Posted March 1, 2008 Members Report Posted March 1, 2008 Nice job I like the use of the blue on black never thought of doing this in blue stitching thanks something to think about Dave Wolf Quote
