Dolphini Report post Posted July 4, 2009 HI friends Its the lack of ideas woman again. I have been given 6 or so old leather holsters by someone. Varying sizes from a small .22 revolver size to a 9mm. Other than wash and oil them as not a huge market for them here. What else could I do with them? My inexperience and lack of imagination leaves me blank!

Suze Report post Posted July 4, 2009 mount them on a base upright and turn them into a lamp? ok - maybe not mount them on a base upright and turn them into a vase for fake flowers? ok - maybe not hey they do both of those things with old cowboy boots - why not an old holster? Jordan Report post Posted July 4, 2009 you could, depending on their quality, take them apart and use them as patterns or maybe mount them on a garden fence for the birds to nest in, or just set them aside and eventually a purpose will present itself, usually when you least expect it. KatieG Report post Posted July 4, 2009 Oh, I have a neat idea. Well, it's not mine originally but.... Saw someone on a craft site turn old cowboy boots into cute little purses. I imagine the same principle could be applied to the holsters. Purses should have a market, and something as unique and creative as "repurposed" holsters would be very cool!! $$hobby Report post Posted July 4, 2009 well, if you live on the edge of town, how about ebay? depending on the holsters, there maybe a market for them beyond your boarders. the horse show crowd uses antique/used holsters for their costumes. i made a holster/belt combo for a friend thats showing Arabs. shes using it with a capgun and plastic toy knife. if they are in decent shape, theres no reason they cant go back to being a holster. if you have any gun/antique shows in your area, try seliing/trading them there. Dwight Report post Posted July 5, 2009 HI friendsIts the lack of ideas woman again. I have been given 6 or so old leather holsters by someone. Varying sizes from a small .22 revolver size to a 9mm. Other than wash and oil them as not a huge market for them here. What else could I do with them? My inexperience and lack of imagination leaves me blank! In Texas a few years back, . . . flea market surroundings, . . . someone had taken some old holsters, . . . cap guns, . . . fake marshall badges, . . . fake handcuffs, . . . but had put them in a picture frame made from old grey barn siding, . . . velvet backing, . . . and had put a gun, a holster, a badge, some cuffs or fake cartridges, . . . with a bit of western painting (cactus, . . . windmill, . . . bull horns, . . . etc.) and made a fairly nice looking wall decoration with them. The asking price was in the $80 range, . . . I didn't buy one, . . . but one day, I may make one, . . . thought it was neat. Course, . . . that stuff is kinda a guy thing anyway, . . . May God bless, Dwight
