Thread Stand For 29K62 Patcher

Hello everyone, I need to add a thread stand to hold 1/2 lb and full lb spools to my machine. It has the original cast iron stand so drilling through it is not an option. Hoping there is an easy way to adapt or clamp something on.For those of you that have these types of machines how did you mount the stand?What type of stand did you use?How is it working out for you?

Any help or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Just set it on the floor behind the machine & run it up through the center of the big beam on top.

@Ferg, not so much that it is cast iron, as that there isn't much room on those stands.

@Bob, That is pretty much how I'm doing it now, I have a small worktable next to it and have been setting the spools down on it. I just have limited space and am hoping to consolidate as much as possible.

I did see a coat rack in the garage that is tall and skinny and is on wheels, I might have to modify that into a stand.

I've been considering this too and actually there are already two small-ish holes drilled in the back right-hand corner area, of the top of my original cast iron stand. I figured the original owner must have mounted a thread stand there at some point (though there was not one mounted when I aquired the machine). Most modern thread stands have three hole bases now (I think anyway). I'm thinking that having the third hole area of the thread stand's base hang off the back of the cast-iron top would be just fine assuming at least two bolts/screws are firmly secured to the top. This would make the issue of not enough room, unimportant. That's what I've been planning on doing.. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has ideas for you.

What I'd do is clamp a bit of wood out the back of the stand with C-clamps thread holder on there. If you were feeling particularly cunning you could probably work a way to attach it with the same screws that hold the machine head onto the stand.
