Too true -- before I started leatherworking, I was heavily into knitting. I found some Swedish knitting patterns online, and it was loads of fun to translate them. It's also one of the reasons I started doing a Viking persona in the SCA. Most of the documentation is available in English, and if it's not, it's not that hard (for me) to translate.

I do not understand the problem it took you to find girly skulls, the idea is all over the Internet, drawn, painted, mostly tattoed and there is a limited way you can draw skulls, pigtails and bows...And the point is?

It is (was?) "Fiebing's highlite" Now when I try to make searches I can't find it? It's an antiquing that do not ad any color to the leather, just that black antique finish in the groves. I really hope I can fins some more when the bottle is empty...

I think I found it...Fiebing's Antique, they do have a "color" neutral.

What do you use to seal the surface, your colours are always soooo vibrant, is it just that your sooo talented (which of course is the case) or do you have a secret finish I have tried resoline and didn't like it, streaky and fiddly for my fat man hands, carnuba wax seems to take off some of my colours, i like antiquing wax but it dulls everything etc etc.

No, no secrets and weird stuff:-)

I simply use the spirit leather dyes from Angelus, I love the vibrancy (if that's a word?) they produce. After dying I have some neatsfoot oil on it and let it set for at least 24 hours. Then I have a choice of high gloss, satin or matt acryllic finish (also from Angelus (or leather/satin sheen-Tandy).

When that is dry I have the antiquing on and after a while lightly taking of all the excess with damp paper towels and then another layer of finishing...Done:-) To keep the leather color on this one I used Fiebings Hi-liter as antiquing, only leaves black in the groves and don't stain the leather.

Feilbings hi liter sounds like the thing I am needing as well as some decent acryllics, i'll check out angelus. Thanks Tina
