stu925 Report post Posted November 10, 2016 Here's my latest work. This was an order from a guy with a Buckmark with a Red Dot mounted on it. The color is a custom mix to approximate the Cocobolo grips on his gun (dark brown, saddle tan and ox blood). Looks great but I doubt I could reproduce it exactly. Anyway here's some pictures of the completed project.

Dwight Report post Posted November 10, 2016 Very good looking, . . . I had it in the back of my mind that I'm the only one getting those kind of orders. Mine order was a Buckmark with a scope, . . . basically the same as you did, . . . altogether the welts and the holster were 3/4 of an inch thick. Had to make the stitching holes with my Boss, . . . then hand stitch the thing. BTW, . . . I DO like the color, . . . May God bless, Dwight

stu925 Report post Posted November 10, 2016 Thank you all. Dwight, I did a knife sheath like that right before this too. I'm looking forward to my next non-welted project. What I've been doing is laying out the stitch lines with the chisels and then finishing them with an awl. I've been is driving the awl through with a mallet, that allows me to make sure it's going straight through. Next one I may try chucking the awl blade up in my drill press and use that without turning it on. Stu

MADMAX22 Report post Posted November 13, 2016 Good stuff. Gotta love those guns, very accurate right out of the box. Picked one up for the wife a few years ago and thought about making a holster but it looked like a pain. Yours doesnt make it look any easier.

The color is a custom mix of Dark Brown, Saddle Tan and Ox Blood all Fiebing's dyes. We went back and forth for 3 weeks trying to come up with a color he liked as a match for the Cocbolo grips on his gun. I got pretty frustrated and after awhile every shade started to look the same but it was worth it. He's happy and I think the color is perfect even if I could never recreate it. Truly a one of a kind piece -Stu.

I should be hearing from him about in another day or 2.
Sphinx Report post Posted January 6, 2017 Yes Sir, that is it, that is something, for me definitely, to look up to... I can only second everything good that was already posted. But challenge to keep stitching so neat is serious skills. Great job!
