I bought a stainless steel table with pegboard back from Lowes a while back. While it's built well I don't recommend it for leather work. Unless you LIKE the sound of metal rattling every time you hit something with a maul. The drawers are nice though. I took the back off and it's not so bad but I'm thinking of the Harbor Freight one or home built one.

That table looks ideal for a sander, burnisher, and drill station.   All the electricals lined up, with the accessories in the drawers, and a dust extractor fitted into the hood.

If you don't want the dog holes, a piece of dowel and some glue and the hole can go away

Corks work too. Thats what i did.

I don't think I have ever seen the bottom of a bottle of wine so my supply of corks is not there, lol.

Sounds like you haven't been to a winery?

I still can't drink the store bought stuff.

But man, winery wine is where it's at. Great stuff.

Nope, I will stick to my rum and Coke.

Spoken just like my Dad.

You should find a few corks though. They are the perfect back stop for pushing the awl thru leather. I also store my awls in a cork.

Some rum bottles are corked.   Just saying...

What a wonderful excuse to drink some wine.

"But dear, I HAVE to drink these 6 bottles of wine.   I need the corks for my worktable, honest".

Yep, go ahead and drink that second bottle. I see people mention stabbing their fingers here, all the time.

I have only poked myself once while sharpening.

Ymmv.

What?   But I do my best stabbing, er, no, I mean stitching after my second bottle......hic!...........

(I'm in churge here!!!  I have opposable thumbs!!)

Sadly, I have discovered that I am quite capable of stabbing myself while stone cold sober:devil:

And regularly do.

I suspect you haven't done a helluva lot of sharpening if you have only pricked yourself twice.

Actually, only once. And you are correct. I have only sharpened my awl once. Until last week I also only had one awl.

Now I have 3. And still no time to do anything. I get very little time with my hobby. I hope to have more time for it when my son gets a little older.
