Thanks! Slowly getting there...now the base is fully stitched and ready for turning, along with one of my 'helpers'

Thanks!!

finally managed to get the bag turned right side out. Also decided to do a stiffener and lining on the inside, made from thin kitchen cutting mat. The lining material is some bonded Burberry cotton canvas I had left over from another project. Now, just need to stitch the zip in

Awesome! It looks killer! Looking at that color, I think if you were able to pipe the sides instead of a lap seam, and the bottom like it is, in a contrasting blue color it would just pop. That's just a thought for another project, but what you have looks super cool!

Thanks mate! Great idea on the contrasting piping, too!

Very nice.  Are you hand sewing for a specific reason?  What size (MM) is your pricking iron and thread?

Expand

Thanks! Yes, the main reason being I don't have a suitable sewing machine for this work (although I do for garment sewing), and also because I really enjoy the 'zen' of hand stitching. I'm using 0.6mm tiger thread, with size 004 needles, and about 8-9 spi (will have to check the exact mm size of my pricking iron). I have used 0.8mm tiger thread with 002 needles with the same pricking iron on another project, but for aesthetics I prefer the thinner thread on this one.

So, my Harley was a-callin' (sunny, 82F and a light breeze.....no choice really), didn't make as much headway sewing as I wanted to this weekend, but here are a couple of update pics.  Also ran out of thread with just half of the zip to go, naturally. Now waiting for my package from Egyptian thread :(

They are a retailer for tiger thread.

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Thanks @TheCyberwolfe, beat me to it :)  They are a great supplier, and do shorter lengths and samples if you don't need a 100s of meters.. .

Stitching all done! All that's left now is to braid a small zipper pull, but in the meantime, here are some pics.  Included a gratuitous shot next to my buddy for size comparison
