bubb Report post Posted December 14, 2017 But it looked so simple to make. Until you see just how large an 18"x18"x6" leather tote really is and how many holes you have to make BEFORE you even start hand sewing such a monster. My hands haven't quit hurting yet and it's been a week since I finished it for the wife's birthday present... No more hand sewing, wife said I need a machine, she has ideas now.... Fire88 Report post Posted December 15, 2017 Very nice bag. I said the exact thing after doing a purse with liner and shoulder strap. Bought a CB3200 right after.
bikermutt07 Report post Posted December 15, 2017 I did a 14x16x4 for my wife's 40th two years ago. I haven't even thought about tackling another one since. And I had three people wanting to buy one after they saw hers. Nope, no thank you.
robs456 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) Just did a belt for myself handsewn (may post it later) which comes to over 2 meters of hand stitching. While I did get a great motivation for dieting I also figured out two things: 1. A sewing machine isn't really necessary. 2. I do need to add about 120 to 175 USD for lining a belt or guitar strap. The customer is the Boss but she/he also need to pay for what they get. PS. I also figured out that Netflix is the leatherworkers best friend. DS. alpha2 Report post Posted December 18, 2017 A machine is absolutely in my future. I can't do the multiple hours of handle stitching of belts and such. And that is my plan for my impending retirement. After hours today of saddle stitching a belt for a co-worker today, I realize that I must admit that I'm past the point of spending a day hand-stitching.
