Howdy guys and gals.

One of my friends asked me to make this journal for his Christmas gift to his girlfriend. The leather is 8/9 oz. European single bend from Tandy.

Let me know what you think. Critique and comments are always welcome.

(Note the screwdriver petal lifter in the second pic. I got the idea from YinTx in his post.)

Wow, you are rockin' the Roland Ranch! Nice work. I believe this will get you some more work, and soon.

Looking great!

your carving and stamping skills are coming on well.

Did you sew it with a machine?

Yes, I used my Cowboy 4500 with #138 bonded nylon thread.

That looks like it came out pretty well!  Can you take a close up of the leaves where you used that petal lifter?  I am curious if the shape of your lifter made a difference on the end result...

Sure thing. This is the first time I've used a petal lifter so any advice or critique is appreciated.

Thanks!

Very very nice! What does the inside look like?

Thank you! Here is the inside. I try to keep the inside simple and plain so the focus is on the cover but any advice is much appreciated.

Looking at the pattern from that side view looks great.

Is the floral design your own or from a book?

I'm no expert, but I'd say you nailed it with the petal lifter!

Thanks! I found both corner patterns online in two different places. They were for different things but I thought they matched pretty well so I used them together. I also altered them in a few places like the leaf looping around the border and extending a few leafs over the border.
