I put a layer of 1 oz on the back of the tooled section after I was done dyeing, antiquing, etc. It still has come out a lot thicker than I wanted, so a bit much to carry around in the front pocket for my tastes. "T" pocket design might help here for the future, but wanted to try one with a full pocket design. The long wallet looks good but one thing I noticed is the middle section of pockets needs to be trimmed a little to make the edges even. The second pocket from the top is really sticking out. I would then burnish the edges as well.

Then after I attach to the center section I can get them cut nice and flush so you can get a good edge and burnish. 44 minutes ago, Deryk said: I have only made maybe 6 wallets in my life...made 2 this weekend. I am so new to this Hi, the edge creaser I used is the Wuta one shown in the first image. Its 1.5mm which i find works for most of my stuff. The snap is just a really thin skived piece of leather glued around a brass snap. Quite tricky that one.
Stetson912 Report post Posted January 31, 2018 @Petewon very nice work. I'd like to see your construction methods on those. Watch straps are beyond me at the moment haha. Also, when setting that snap with the leather covering, does the setter damage the leather? Or do you put something over it to protect it?

Thanks I've been through a few different processes with watch straps and finally settled on one I'm happy with..... for now :). I used to construct the back, padding and front of the strap before cutting the shape. I find it much easier to cut the shape for the bottom, then add the padding and top and use the shape of the pre cut bottom as a guide to cut around. Very tricky to explain. And yes, for the snaps I use a thick bit of leather over the setter so it doesn't damage the leather covered snap.

alienman32 Report post Posted February 2, 2018 here's my version of the sketch wallet. i saw the sketch wallet on Instagram and decided to make myself one. It's a hassle to carry a full sized sketchbook everywhere so i made this one to for quick doodles or notes when I'm out and about.
