I really wanted a Barry King slicker but couldn't justify the $$. Figured I'd make my own. Didn't even have to case them! Still have all my fingers!

Love the wood handles.   How did you get the glass to stay in the handle?

They groove is cut exactly wide and deep enough to give a snug fit

Purpleheart is an extremely dense and water-resistant wood. It is ranked one of the hardest and stiffest of the woods in the world. It is so durable that it can be used in applications that require toughness, such as truck decking.

It's actually harder than cocobolo.

I'd like to score a junked truck with purpleheart decking!!! Fire up the planer you'd have a major score.

Nice work. Wonderful tools. And they look good.

Did you round/polish the glass or have the shop who cut it do the edge polish? Also if you don't mind how thick is the glass? It sure looks hefty.

Glass is 8mm thick. I am toying with the idea of doing a small production run using various exotic woods. I am targeting $20 - $25 with an unusually rounded edge

I enjoy working with exotics. I had an Irish bouzouki built out of bocote, another beautiful hardwood and I have a guitar made of Brazilian rosewood.

Kewl! That's my target. I am having the glass custom made with a highly polished semicircular edge so it will work at a greater range of angles. In that respect, it may outperform a barry King.

I would certainly take one at that price as well.  Mine acquired a tiny nick in one edge and it's very annoying.

It will be a while yet, but I will be offering a range of woods including zebra, bocote, and a number of other tropical hard woods. I am in the process of having the glass made to my specifications overseas. There are no suppliers in the US and the radius is very unusual.

I would take one at that price as well. Would you do one in Gabon Ebony, or is that not a hardwood. Sorry am not someone who knows woods, I just love Gabon Ebony. Also, if you do get it to around that price or even a little higher put me down as well.

that looks awesome, and if you do start selling, that is a vary fair price. I, like the others posted before me, would take you up on one of those.
