Members Rohn Posted May 7, 2019 Members Report Posted May 7, 2019 Here is a Driving Holster I made for the Bond Arms Snake Slayer IV. The holster is fully lined so no metal is inside the holster. The dye I used is Fiebings oil dye in Saddle Tan, then antiqued. All lacing and stitching is done by hand. The last picture also shows a holster for a Ruger GP100. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted May 7, 2019 Contributing Member Report Posted May 7, 2019 Okay, I'll bite. WHY not continue the lace all the way around? That would have been my preference, but also seems like it would be less work than stopping the lace and ending on both ends, then stitching that little bit. Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." IF what you do is something that ANYBODY can do, then don't be surprised when ANYBODY does.

Two reasons why: First of all I learned early in my holster making (20 + years ago) that continued insertion and withdrawal of the gun in the holster wears on the lace but with the thread it will not do that. Second reason I like the way this looks better than if it was laced all around. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members buzzardbait Posted May 7, 2019 Members Report Posted May 7, 2019 Very nice, I like the lace. Quote
Members Bigfoote Posted May 8, 2019 Members Report Posted May 8, 2019 Wow Rohn, that is a beauty, really like the lace on that, cute little gun! Quote
bikermutt07 Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Great job. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

I have never worn a driving holster so I can't say how they feel while being worn. I would guess it would depend on the persons build. Thanks everyone for all the great comments.
