Members Rolandranch Posted April 27, 2020 Members Report Posted April 27, 2020 Here's some Arizona Bell chaps I finished up a couple days ago. Thanks for viewing! Ryan Quote
Members Rolandranch Posted April 27, 2020 Author Members Report Posted April 27, 2020 Fun fact: The belt I'm wearing in the photo was one of my very first leather projects that I did. It was a tandy kit. Pretty funny that I'm still wearing it. Quote

Members TSes Posted April 27, 2020 Members Report Posted April 27, 2020 Really good job. Are you drawing your own carving patterns yet? Quote

Well that just takes it up another level of most excellent so it does I can hardly follow a drawn pattern never mind trying to do one free-hand Quote
garypl Posted April 27, 2020 Report Posted April 27, 2020 Another beautiful piece of work Ryan! Gary Quote
Members battlemunky Posted April 28, 2020 Members Report Posted April 28, 2020 (edited) Your skills have become ridiculous Ryan. That background work is amazing, the carving is clean and sharp, the resist on the antiquing is phenomenal. I did see one thing wrong unless it was intentional, the second pic down, the belt/strap end is unfinished. So a 9.999 out of 100 will have to suffice for today my friend. I hope you are feeling good about your work dude, it really is something next level. Are you using any particular classes or anything to progress as you have done or do you just have the knack? ...I still can't get over your backgrounding Are you hand sewing or machine sewing? In either case, that is well done too. Edited April 28, 2020 by battlemunky forgot to mention my thoughts on the stitching quality Quote
Members Sofaspud Posted April 28, 2020 Members Report Posted April 28, 2020 Wow! Every time you post something new I am blown away. Great work. Quote
Members YinTx Posted April 28, 2020 Members Report Posted April 28, 2020 Fantastic work! And sadly the belt will probably outlast anything you can buy in the store. YinTx Quote

Love that Look ... must make some !!!!!!!! Whilst thats all Ryans own work you can download a pack of patterns for making chaps from the Tandy Leathercraft Library. once you have these you can adapt them. The patterns include suggestions for the fancy tooling work too https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/search?searchterm=chaps Quote
Members Rbarleatherworks Posted April 30, 2020 Members Report Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks Fred ... I will look into those Quote
Members Levi0913 Posted February 3, 2021 Members Report Posted February 3, 2021 How do I get a set of those chaps Quote
Members Sheilajeanne Posted February 4, 2021 Members Report Posted February 4, 2021 Gorgeous! What are Arizona bells, BTW? Quote
Members AzShooter Posted February 4, 2021 Members Report Posted February 4, 2021 Beautiful work in every aspect. You are a master at your art. Funny how a simple belt can get you interested and keep your attention. It was a good thing for you to find and your work shows it. Quote
Members DJole Posted February 4, 2021 Members Report Posted February 4, 2021 Beautiful work, indeed. Is the metal ring (located on the outside of the thigh) used for something in particular? I can't even begin to guess, since I have no experience with cattle, ranching, or chaps (although my grandfather plowed with mule teams in the early 1900s!) Quote
Members Cattledude Posted February 4, 2021 Members Report Posted February 4, 2021 The ring is for your tie strings, I carry mine doubled over the back belt and the tails go thru the ring to keep them handy and out of your way. Tie strings are used to tie a cow or calf after roping them for doctoring... or what ever you need to hold one down for. At least that's how I utilize the ring...! Quote
