is there a magnet or something to keep it closed?

8''''   zipper

the flap you see is just like the flap that covers the zipper on your jeans

Very nice design.  A good concealable purse is a true asset.  I don't do zippers because there is so much hand stitching needed.  When I went to Tandy to ask how to do it the salesman recommended snaps.  Oh Well.  I think I lost out of a good task.

I like the way you did the flap.

I thought about snaps,  then i envisioned a 45 hitting the floor as you walk out the store

And changed my mind
