I recently acquired a Stimpson 405. The driver and anvil are for grommets. Has anyone adapted one of these rivets or snaps? How about converting to another brand like Weaver? Thanks, Randy

I was watching a YT video and noticed the guy put something on his clicker die real quick and throw it back in the tray. It looked like a bar of beeswax. So I tried it on some leather that I couldn’t cut with my 1 ton arbor press and it cut it slicker than butter. My question is does anyone else do this?

The following is long and my experience for dying, oiling leather. My journey to airbrushing and the cost of a small setup not including a spray booth. How I got here: i) Tried the dabber method I could not get consistent results from one piece to another and used to much dye. ii) Tried the dipping method got consistent results just never liked what it done to veg tan leather or the end result. iii) Tried the brushing method getting consistent results were difficult. iv) Tried the continuous spray bottle that women use for misting hair but typically gave a spotty coverage. The spray bottle was large, clumsy and awkward to use. v) Tried the…

Some of the youtubers we follow have neat toys to make processors better/quicker. One such item I drool over in the Campbell Randell Variable Speed Burning Machine. Chances of getting one in Australia are pretty minimal and if it was available, I would probably be hit with a 50% export Tariff ;). So I after some time on my CAD I came up with these. The sanding wheel is 89mm diameter and has a small flat area so the sand paper has a slight overlap and you don't feel a bump. I choose the diameter to suit strips cut from an standard sheet of wet and dry sand paper. Currently I am testing 180 grit and am extremely satisfied. The Dust collector is NOT m…

Hi! I recent got a Astor hand press, the A51, classic grey etc etc And know I want to stock my arsenal with tools and attachments for this fantastic machines. So I bought what I thought was a genuine Astor tool-adapter-thing that I needed for a lot of my old attachments. ***All of this text end my questions is about the upper threads on the machine*** And the tool didn't really fit, you know it that way when the threads are not 100% in the feel when you screw it in the first time. Back and forth for a couple of days, with the official Astor seller in Sweden, and we couldnt figure out what was wrong. So I took the situation in my own hands and started to dig! After a …

I had gotten a 1 ton arbor press and searched high and low locally for some steel plates to use it as a clicker press. The one I found on Etsy were just to expensive in my book. So I searched Amazon and found a set of 2 6 X 6 X 1/4 plates for $22. I got them today and really like them. Rounded corners and the whole 9 yards.

Trying to decide between the Cobra 14 inch splitter and the Artisan 20 inch LS 1020, both are about the same price. Anyone have experience with these machines? Any comments would be appreciated.

Hey guys, Looking for some info on a blade for an Esto 8ins hand crank splitter. The machine looks the same as an American model A. I've been told that these were made in Australia after WW2 by an Estonian migrant, but other than this I can't find any more info. I'm a knife maker so making the blade is no problem, I am just trying to find the dimensions. The blade will be 8 ins long and 3ins wide (the same width as the American unit), but I'm not sure of the thickness of the blade or the height of the bevel. Also, for those of you have experience with these type of machines, would the blade be better flat or hollow ground? Main use will be thinner leathers. Does…
