This is a great place to post pics your latest work. Please understand that as the threads get older, we're going to move the topics to the area they "fit", for example, bikes or holsters, just to keep this section manageable, and help the newer folks find lots of pics of the subjects they are interested in. If I have moved your post to the wrong area, please TELL me so I can fix it. Please don't be upset when I move an older post- it actually helps more people to find it. It also helps when we use descriptive titles. "Recent Projects" isn't as likely to get clicks as "Harley Saddlebags and Seat" or "Civil War Holster and Belt". To post your pics, use the "browse" …

This is a purse pattern from an old Tandy pattern pack - the “ranchero” Used some brown/white Hair on hide. One has a matching strap, one has a reworked Brighton belt for a strap. Great size for a small bag and loved the structure of it. Definitely need to play around with some stiffener. also learned my lesson the hard way re; lacing direction on HOH

Hi all, here is a recently completed order which was a bit of a first for me. This is a 10th Century Baltic style sheath for a Viking seax. The knife itself is not one of mine, but made by my friend at pitstone forge who specialises in pattern welded stuff from this era. For the sheath the main reference was an original from the Valsgarde graves in Sweden, with tooling patterns adapted from another in Norway from the same period. The one I copied has different designs on both sides, with the fancier stuff on the front. I am a little ignorant about very early medieval knives so there was a big research phase involved, in which it turns out that tooling was done purel…

Hi folks, I'm still pretty amateur and new to holster making (have more experience with knife sheaths), but here's holster #4 - made for my 1911 Commander model Colt. I wanted a lined holster, and decided to use thinner thread to somewhat approximate a factory machine stitched holster. I did switch to heavier cotton thread at the welt just for strength. This is the first time I've used a stitch groove and when combined with the thinner thread, it really laid them down! I have to say, the welt is the hardest part of these things - getting all my holes to line up is nothing short of engineering and prayer! Always thrilled and slightly amazed when it works. …

Finally, I have finished my pair of 19th century shotgun step ins chaps. It took me nearly a year to get them cut out. I went for very simple yokes with no tooling as I'm not very good at it yet and I'm happy with the simple appearance. The leather for the chaps themselves is from The Hide House. Mocha apache bison vegetable tanned medium hand full grain 4-5 oz 51sqft hide. The yokes are 5-6 oz Chestnut Brown Lamport Leather. I was able to get the yokes, back belt, and the end pieces that go at the bottom of the leg out of a 30x60cm piece. Overall, I'm very happy with how they turned out. as I have a lot of leather left over from the hide, so I have …

Guys & gals dont laugh too hard, but here is my first pancake holster. Of course it's in a working progress. I made my own pattern from poster board & went from there. I used 6-7oz veg tan craftsman leather, & laminated/glued 2 pieces for the front & 2 pieces for the back of the holster. Lol 6-7oz glued together might be a touch much for the front piece of the holster. This for sure has been a learning process for me. But I think it's going to turn out ok. Next I need to figure out my stitch lines, then dye, & saddle stitch it together. What's your guys thoughts. Thanks.

Well guys & gals here is my 1st wallet. Its probably a bit overkill on the leather, but it's what I had on hand. The outside basket weave panel is 6/7 OZ, then all the inside panels are 3/4 OZ. It has 8 total card slots. It is all saddle stitched with 346 thread. What's your guys & gals thoughts. Thanks for looking.
