  1. From their website...that just blows my mind...
  2. Does this mean you can put the Rolaids in the medicine cabinet now?
  3. Received a special request from one of the folks on the ShadowAero750 forum to do a California-style bib since the originators of the style: Peaceful Cruisin' decided to retire earlier this year. So I figured I would give it a shot and see what happens. Besides, the artwork he supplied was pretty awesome and detailed and I couldn't resist the challenge he was throwing to me. The p.i.t.a. part was he wanted the tooling to be dark red to match his pinstripping and when all was said and done, the painting took longer than any other part of the project! 2 coats of bright red airbrush paint to get a good base and then 2 coats of Deep Crimson Red acrylic paint to give it life. I'd do it again, but the painting part is going to have to be an extra/upgrade due to the time involved. Here are the pics: Yeah, I know…my bike is a mish-mosh of parts right now. You can see the prototype of the mini-solo bag still mounted up, chrome side covers because my leather wrapped set are being redone (the drawback of improving designs when your own served as the prototypes) and the slightly rusty custom Hypercharger bracket. That was a project I started and haven't quite finished yet due to lack of welding equipment and the high cost of chroming right now. Not to mention, looking at my bike makes me want to get to work on and finish my seat with the custom lower-ride fiberglass seat pan.
  4. Thanks Blade! Hey Billy, I keep thinking about that too as it would clean up the lines but I think to make it look right I'd need to make the top parallel as well. Still playing with the design while I fill orders so hopefully inspiration strikes.
  5. I have a bottle of it that's been sitting for over a year. Used it a few times to try it out and like Hidepounder, didn't like it. Might just be me but it seems to leave a light residue that water or water + dishsoap doesn't.
  6. I was thinking about this subject about a week ago when some folks asked about little draw string bags with a simply logo on them. Will likely get a stamp/brand made later on if it goes somewhere but in the meantime it looks like this technique would fit the bill. Here's the set-up I have used for years and love it: http://www.razertip.com/miva5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RII&Product_Code=SK-1F&Category_Code= and the tip set: http://www.razertip.com/miva5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RII&Product_Code=SET8&Category_Code= Highly recommed it if you go looking for a new set-up. Chris
  7. Pretty nice end result! I may have to give this a try. I have a Razortip pyrography set up from my woodturning days that would likely do nicely.
  8. Looks good Lance, I'm digging the style...has a retro feel with the pinstriping. Speaking of which, how did you get such a clean, light color over the dark brown? Is it tooled & resist or is it painted on top? Chris
  9. Try a coat of Aussie wax on top of the Resolene. It helps cut the plastic-y shine and feel a little and adds another layer of protection that is easy to renew.
  10. Thanks Casey. This is the first of three that I am doing (different clients & tooling designs) and definitely the most complicated tooling. First time I have ever done a celtic pattern so it was fun to do. The wet molding part is kind of a pain but looks pretty sweet when it's all said and done.
  11. "California"-style tank bib in process...full bottom wrap with Celtic cross design (customer supplied artwork). I almost hate to dye this thing red on black...antiqued browns would look sooooo cool!
  12. The green stuff is awesome for metal polishing. I use it on the brass and copper parts I make and also use it when polishing my metal spinning tools (which need to be super duper extra shiny polished smooth). Interestingly enough, it also works well when putting a final polish on wood products like the larger woodturnings I used to do. Very versatile and leaves very little residue unlike most other compounds. I have a 1 lb. bar I bought 6 years ago that still has over 1/2 it's life left...a little goes a long way.
  13. Here's a concept prototype I'm working on for Shadow Aeros, Spirits and Phantoms so those folks that ride solo can have a smaller (pocket stuff) bag that simply replaces the rear pegs using the same mounting points. This is a very *rough* prototype I made out of scrap leather just to see if it would work. Thought I would share in case someone was looking for inspiration. I even made the custom metal brackets for the peg mount. In place of a Sam Browne cap stud, I use a medium chrome spike, worked out nicely. Will update with the finished version when I get it done soon.
  14. Looks good Billio! Keep it up.
  15. Hey TroyS, I missed your request for pictures...updated with some tonight: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=24813

  16. Hey Troy, sorry I missed that post, here's a couple of pics from bikes I have done recently (just finished set #5 this week):
  17. Hey Mick, I'm Webitect on ShadowAero750.com Forum If she doesn't already, you guys should check it out...good group of Aero riders from all over the world.
  18. Hey Spider, sweet journal cover man! I now understand better why you and I hit it off right away when I met you a couple of months back. Check out this mixed media/woodturning I did a few years ago for a magazine feature...I knew there was a reason I liked ya. hehe
  19. Eye doc says I need glasses...might explain why fine detail sometimes escapes me...

  20. The Lumiere work better for washes and the NeoOpaque seem to be better for solid, bright colors. Any paint can be washed, it's just a matter of thinning to the right consistency. You can even get a bit creative and do gouache or egg tempura techniques on leather for different results.
  21. Yep, Jacquard paints are awesome. Both the Lumiere and NeoOpaque work on leather. Here's my wife's tank bib (when it was in process) with NeoOpaque Bright Red for the dragon. The rest is Fiebing black spirit dye. It's been on her bike for over a year with no noticeable loss of color. Can be brushed on right out of the bottle, it semi-self leveling and can be diluted with water for airbrush use. It recommends setting with heat so I use a hairdryer to set the color between coats.
  22. Hey Billy, 'bout time we saw something from you again...how ya been? Seat looks sweet, and getting a free knife isn't a bad perk too!
  23. Here's a bit better close up of the lacing detail...showing the double loop and running stitch together.
  24. Thanks Troy,, the side covers are working out nicely....not including my own set, I'm working on sets #4 & 5 for orders, didn't expect them to sell like hotcakes but a few sales is nice. I'll see about posting a detail shot of the lacing.
  25. never fear everyone, I found them.
