  1. I made a stropping block out of 3/4 inch oak board, and cemented a piece of leather to it. I use jewelers rouge on the leather, but when I stropp my blade the rouge gets flakey and rough almost like cement. Is this supposed to happen?
  2. Thanks Kenny, I will definately check that out. I used oak on mine, but I used cheap drill bits. Dont make that mistake. Find some good fosner bits. Youre holes will look alot better.
  3. The Dunkin Donuts coffee was an extra in the picture. I had to use my kitchen stove for a place to apply the poly because of the exhaust fan. If I left it to dry outside my apartment complex some useless thief would run off with it, like they do with everything else.
  4. I dont know for sure but it looks like a hand press, for setting rivets, snaps and eyelets. But dont quote me on that.
  5. I made a new tool rack out of oak. Check it out, and tell me what you think. My stropping block also got in the pictures, although it is not done yet. What is best used to secure a piece of leather to my oak stropping block?
  6. That looks awesome, great job.
  7. I am not talented enough to be a critic, but I would say that they are some fine looking memory card cases.
  8. That is awesome, I am jealous! I have a few "Make it With Leather" magazines that my grandfather left me. The old mags are cool.

It is worth its weight in gold!! Tomorrow after work I am going to start practicing the swivel knife excercises. Thats going to make for a long dragged out day. Hope I dont day dream to much and cut my carving hand off with the table saw. Just kidding I hope.
  10. Thanks for all of the advice guys. I just ordered a King knife and two different blades to go with it. If I find I dont like it I will order a Henley or a Lancer. I guess its just trial and error from here on out. It sounds like everybody has there own preference, now ive got to find mine. I hope a new knife and some practice will improve my carving. Thanks a bunch Bob for your extra effort in helping me out, it does not go un appreciated.
  11. Thanks Bob, I have seven Tandy Knives with all the different blades they offer, but I am afraid that maybe I wasted my money on them. Good thing they are cheap. I dont know of anybody in my area that is into leather, I think it is a rare thing here in Maine. I am going to buy a good knife and hope for the best, it will have to be better than what I have now. I will also buy a couple different blades to go with it. Your help is very muych appreciated and needed. Thank you very much.
  12. Where do I find Chuck Smiths Ol' Smoothie?
  13. I am looking to upgrade my swivel knife. I am looking for suggestions on what brand to buy. I looked into a Barry King knife, and also a Henley. The Barry King was more in my price range but if it is worth the extra money I could swing the Henley. Does anybody have any input that could help me? Are there any other Knives out there that are in my price range? Please help me I really need some advice!!!!
  14. Happy fourth everybody, hope everyone has a great day. Im going to take my 17 month old son to his first fire works. That should be fun. My other son loved them when he was his brothers age.
