I have used Saddle Lac on my patches many times before with no problem. This time, where I have Fiebings red oil dye on the lettering, there seems to have developed a speckled effect after spraying on the Saddle Lac. Could this be that the spray may not have been as fine is it should be? By that I mean, maybe its coming out in a coarser spray? I can see any reason why this should happen since Ive done the same before with the same dyes and even the same can. I will post a picture in a couple of days. I hope someone can help. Thank you.

Fantastic work. Do you design the patterns yourself?

Nicely finished straps. How did you apply the dye, did you airbrush it on? Its very uniform.

Finishing Product

When I tried TanKote, it wasn't water resistant at all, in fact I havent used it since. Do you want a satin, matt or gloss finish? -
Best Paints To Use For Seats And Final Finish
OdinUK replied to troy's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Please can someone advise how to heatset on leather without damaging the leather. I was considering using a hot air gun but but Ive not tried it yet. I have some acrylic paint for textiles and leather and for textiles I hear that folk use an iron to heatset the paint. Thanks. -
Thanks for the advice everyone. If I find shelf liner Ill try it out. I'll also order some rubber cement. I was unable to remove the tack on my current project so I used contact adhesive to stick a thin liner to the back of the project. Ive not had much success with most tapes. I find the tack sticking to the leather is worse when it has been on for a long time and when I keep the leather cased for extended periods and stored in the fridge!

Im having problems when trying to stick leather to card before tooling. First, I stopped using wide tape stuck to leather before sticking that to card with double sided tape because when I removed the leather, the adhesive from the tape was sticking to the leather and I could not remove this tack. I tried to then use low tack Frisk film but that would not stick to the leather. For my last attempts I have tried using self adhesive plastic film (sticky back plastic) because it seemed to have less tack than the tape. It worked fine but when I peeled it off the leather, ALL of the tack was left on the back of the leather and I found it impossible to remove! Can anyone advise how I may remove this tack from the leather or recommend some other product to stick leather to card prior to tooling so that the leather does not warp or stretch too much? Thank you.

Does anyone know how to make a continuous loop or necklace using a four thong braid? I would like to make a strong necklace in the form of a braid but I can seem to find any information on joining the braid into a loop. I hope someone can help. Thank you.

Just a quick update, Ive started looking into using the lightbox code to display pictures. I expect it will be a while before I get to try it but Ill just save a new copy of my website on my PC and play around with that in case I mess something up. Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for the tips on the lightbox gallery. It is something that I have in mind, but have yet to learn. I will check the link that you posted, I hope its not too time consuming to change it. Many thanks.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look it up. Is it a permanent coating or does it need to be re-applied?

@Andy, Thanks for the nice comments! Even though it began as a practice piece, I always try to improve from the last project.
