  5. Howdy crafters, Since I'm home on sickleave, I got enough of watching tv, dvd and even the internet, so I turned myself towards a project I wanted to do for a long time... I made myself a Christian Fair Weather belt. It' holds 36 round of ammo .45 or in this case .45/70 Gov.
  6. howdy fellow crafters, I would like to make my own shop press for my "future" little shop (workplace). I've seen how to make a hydraulic shop press DIY style, with a "truckjack", but I would like to make myself a smal stamp press for my shop DIY. Is there anyone inhere that knows how to do this? I got an anglegrinder, powersaw and even a dril and weldingstation, but I can't get head nor tails from the press that Tandy sells for like $400. cheers, Gunter
  7. dear crafters, I've been looking all over the "net" and can't find any information on the amount of barontoolstamps that were made before the closed down in the 80's. I'm looking for a sort of catalog as we all know from tandy, with the number and the stamp above it. is there anyone around that can help me with this? For some odd reason I'm starting to collect baron tool stamps, I find them nice and special.... cheerios, Gunter
  8. thanks for the advice, will try that too ;-)
  9. there's nothing better then the smell of leather

  10. howdy crafters, a while ago I made a pair of pommelholsters for myself, by the patterns and instructions of Jim Simmons. Now I made a set of pommelhosters for the Civil War period. I combined the pattern of Jim S with a pattern I have of the civil war holster. I know I need to improve my "toe plug" pratice, but these plugs I did for the first time. So I hope you like it. cheers, Gunter

Doc, I don't understand the question, (being european and dutch speaking, LOL), but I guess you mean, how much or how many items do I buy @ e-bay? depends, on what is in my limits every month ;-) or whats online that I realy want. But normaly speaking, once or twice a month. In the past, my deceaced friend used to colect all my packages for 3 to 6 months, depending how much came in....(not only for me) and then send it towards Belgium. I hope I answered your question. why? cheers, gunter
  14. A friend of mine wants a holster that was used during the late 1800's in the Santa Fe area. He has got an 1851 sheriff type revolver wherefor he wants this holster. Since I don't have this type of weapon, neither his revolver, my question is.....here it comes..... How do I start? I did some research and found out usualy is a double loop mexican style holster. I can use one of my revolvers 5 1/2 inch barrel and shorten it by 1 inch or 1/2 inch, that's no problem. But the thing I want to know is, where do I place the double loops, since this is a small holster, isn't it? He wants this to be a crossdraw holster, but this shouldn't be a problem. Is there anyone out here that can help me on to starterspoint? Or is my idea the way of towards a good start already? Normaly when I make a holster or anything else, I usualy have a standard pattern or the object itself near me, where I make the pattern of. cheers, Gunter

You might try to message Goldwing, I believe he made one from curly maple using a pattern from ebay, it might be the same one?--Worth asking him any way, and you can see what he thinks.

The Al Stohlman book the Art of HAndSewing has horse plans in the back, and several have said they liked it too. I've also seen a set of plans someone uploaded here as a pdf.

I bought a set of plans off ebay an they are probably the same ones. If so they are good if you want to build a nice horse.

      TapTapTap

The plans in the Al Stohlman Art of Hand Sewing book are easy to follow and you can add things like a padded seat! I added wheels so it could be easily moved around the workshop. TapTapTap
