  1. That is awesome.I am doing a purse for my wifes Birthday. My tooling isnt the greatest but i think it will be the thought that counts right? I have been practicing on scrap, I just hope it turns out as nice as yours
  2. Looks awesome needs a belt clip. What did you use for a liner?
  3. OK where do i sign to apprentice? I make a mean cup of coffee. I do clean bathrooms. Etc Etc Etc. Stunning.
  4. Those look great with the belts. My fav is the last one. I could see my 1911 in it.
  5. I think showing your work, whether it be 1 piece or everything you do, helps others on here attempt to find there way in this wonderful hobby, business, time killer or craft. Whatever you call it. And if you don't want to see everything a person makes, you can also choose to not open the thread. Not trying to stir the pot, but you make a choice to open or not open a thread. Keep showing us your work. Never be discouraged. By the way love the second strap.
  6. You would sell all if you came to Daytona, either for bike week or biketoberfest. There are plenty of places where vendors set up and the costs arent crazy. Only because it is spread out over many many miles and different cities. There is no helmet law here in Florida, and those helmets would sell great imo.
  7. No i used latigo lace from tandy leather factory. 1/8 inch to be exact. I have since relaced and it helped smooth out the bends but I think next set will have fewer lacing holes and that might help even more. Overall I am pleased with the look, Kind of broke up all the chrome from the forks all the way back to the saddlebags.
  8. So I decided to wrap my engine guards on my bike. took me about 6 hours to measure, cut, punch lace holes, and install on my bike. I am going to untie them and relace after my arms stop hurting, used about 25 feet of lace per side. Cant wait for bike week to start here in daytona so I can show it off. Any input is welcome. Again I am going to retie them so I should smooth out the corners, i hope.
  9. I founds a local marble shop and asked if they had any small broken scraps and if they would sell them to me. The guy took me out to where the dumpster is and said have at. He said I could dumpster dive any time I want.

Wow awesome work. Looking at redoing my sheath for my boot knife.
  11. What I would say as far as pricing goes, if he can get a few of the other band members to pay say 50 bucks for a strap you make, then give him a discount off of that price, I'm not saying 50 is what you should charge, just using a number. I made a shotgun bag for a friend, (clay shooter) and told him the same, if any of his buddies at the range buy one, then depending how many I sell (5 or more) his is free. Unless you don't want to make any more. Or he is the only tuba player in the band. Just my 2 cents.
  12. I have one from my dad's collection and it is stamp #300 I don't know if tandy calls it a heart, but it looks like one to me.
  13. Ok thanks for all the replies. I have pictures now, and have a few projects in the works. I am working on a shotgun bag as we speak. There were a total of 89 tools in the box, and some I still cant find descriptions for, but will keep looking. I will get a lot of use out of these. Happy leathering. Scott
  14. Was talking to my Mom on the telly the other day and told her that I am doing leather work. She said, "really that's great". I know, I figured shed be jumping for joy, I know I was. I guess it's not as exciting to some, can't understand how though. So we finished our monthly you don't call enough, but your brother calls at least once a month talks, I said goodbye. Meanwhile back at the ranch. This morning the door bell rings. After corralling the dog's, and throwing on something suitable to answer the door in. Sorry probably TMI for some. There stands the mail lady with this huge box and I had to sign for it too. She says whoever sent it had it insured. So after insuring it wasn't ticking, I had the wife open it, hey you can never be too careful. Inside is a note from my mom that read, Your father was into leather working before I was born, He passed a few years ago. And in the box is a huge and I mean huge assortment of carving tools, probably 100 or so, Jackpot. Thanks pop's. Just thought I would share, made my day. Gotta love the tool fairy. Scott
  15. That looks great, That's something I may try for my colt. Your work is really nice, it has inspired me a lot.
  16. Here's what I did for flames, just used Tandy's Eco-Flo black and red dyes and super sheen. I painted the red first with two coats. Then I used Super Sheen. I went over the whole thing with black, and may have left it on there to long because some of it stayed on the red. I kinda like it, gives it a sinister look.
