  1. How about a used but warrantied Toro 3000 for that price from a reputable dealer? Should I jump on it?
  2. Thanks for the info everyone! It's certainly a lot to digest. I think the Boss will always have a place in the workshop. Of course, my tune might change once I buy a quality electric machine. I'll let you all know what I end up with. Thanks!
  3. Currently I use a Tippmann Boss, which is many times faster than hand sewing, which is what I started out doing. I'm looking to upgrade to something powered by electricity, as I have a feeling my shoulder doesnt appreciate the >500 pulls I do every day with the Boss. However, I am saddled with a restricted budget. I can only afford something with a maximum price of 1500 including taxes (Ohio), and shipping. I read lots of great stuff about the Cobra Class 4's, etc... but they are sadly out of my price range. I fully understand the "buy once, cry once" mentality, but my limit is my limit. I have Weaver Leather within driving distance, as well as Toledo Industrial. I mostly need it for sewing dual layer 6-7oz belts, and holsters that generally max out at 2 layers of 8-9. I prefer a size 277 thread and would love a servo motor, which I think will help me, as I've NEVER operated an electric sewing machine before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If this question has been asked before, please point me to the thread if you know where it is at. I searched and didnt see anything but some days my search-fu is weak. Thanks! Dan
  4. Sold, Paid For, and Shipped. Thanks husker!
  5. Thanks all! I could have just rang the accountant but I always appreciate the insight of the LW.net family.
  6. You can still get a home based FFL license. Im in that same process at the moment. Waiting on the call for my interview.
  7. I have a brand new Rings dummy gun for the Ruger LCR revolver. Will sell for 40 shipped or will trade for a Ruger P95 dummy gun Thanks! Dan
  8. Had a weird thought today, as I was pulling away from the fun store with my new Ruger LCR in .357 magnum. Can this be written off as a business expense? I write off dummy guns, why not real ones? Any of you ever tried this? Thanks!
  9. Thank you for the update. Are these normal price?
  10. What finish did you apply, and how? The sheen is just about perfect IMO and I dont see any visible streaking. Airbrush?
  11. Holsters look great! On the 1911 holster you may want to rework your pattern to bring the rear "tail" in more towards the gun, which would have the effect of pulling the grip closer to the wearers body.
  12. I have a blackhawk railed 5" gun. Wonder if it could be modded to emulate the 4" model somehow. I need to study some pics.
  13. Find anything yet? I'm going to return this fellas money if I cant find something soon.
  14. He is wearing one of my double layer belts already so were good there. Good call though! Rayban: That rig looks great. If I ever get the time I'm going to build something similar for my sawed off shotgun. Mine will ride a bit higher though. nice work.
  15. I have a friend who wants a pancake holster for his S&W 500 with a 4" barrel. I typically use 8-9oz leather for my holster but am not sure how well this would support the weight of that gun using the belt slots that the pancake style provides. Any ideas? Would laminating 2 layers of 6-7 together for each panel ( creating a hefty 12-14oz single panel ) provide the support a gun this heavy requires? Or would that just be overkill. I only want to make this once Thanks!
  16. I never tried waiting for it to dry. :brainbleach: I'm going to run a few test pieces. Thanks!
  17. Meh, just wet molding is enough moisture to make it come loose.
  18. White glue isnt water resistant, if that matters in your designs.
  19. So I hacked a piece off and made a pancake holster with thumb break for a Glock Subcompact. I like it! Cut nice, stitched nice, tooled nice. I think this is also what I will order from here on out. 1 ordered a side of "natural" and a side of black. Also ordered some drum dyed bellies in different colors but those didnt come in, not sure why. Gonna call tomorrow. Thanks!
  20. Just wanted to check with the LW.net mindhive before I start cutting into it. Ordered the tooling leather, got a package full of skirting leather instead. Can anyone chime in on the practical differences? Should I still be able to wet mold and detail this like I do the tooling leathers? Will it temper up as nicely in the hotbox? Will it attract zombies? etc.. Thanks in advance! Dan
