  7. I think I'm most impressed by the fit and finish. If your hand dying them, your doing a great job at consistent coverage. Those should sell some belts for you.
  8. I can't speak for you, but the only thing I have with a leather cost at or above $20 is a cowboy rig or saddle scabbard. When I first started anything I sold wasn't worth good money. I knew it, my customer knew it, but we were both happy. As quality increases so does the cost. I'd imagine I have 2-3 times that figure in tools and I could spend double that tomorrow and not have everything i wanted. To me there is a difference between inexpensive and cheap. Uncle Mikes is cheap, low quality leather is cheap, top quality materials put together by a mediocre at best newbie like I was? That was inexpensive but for good reason. Folks buy what they can afford and I'm not here to judge 'em by their purchases. Hey Dwight, I think that right there sums up my feelings real nicely. Whenever I look at something no matter how miniscule that isn't quite right...it eats at me until I fix it, replace it, etc. Other folks would send it out saying they'll never notice and family/friends have called me crazy more than once. To get my stamp it has to be 'right.' I'll never get rich off it but I sure do enjoy it.
  9. Thanks Josh! It took me a while to get to it, but I'm already hooked on it. Thanks Jake. My first mock up was for a model 64 probably a year ago, light little snub. The single snap wanted to rotate on me, the double stays locked in place and you have a 'back up' if one were to come undone. I intially planned to use PTD snaps but after wearing it around I found them unnecessary and bulkier for my needs. Everyone is different I'm sure. I agree! I would really like to mess with some buffalo/bicen but have been weary of what I've found. I was hoping and praying i'd left enough material for the stitching not to blow out the side when I was sewing the liner and inlay down. The hardest part for me was lining up the piece I cut and trimmed out of the center, with the elephant glued to it, into the 'window' of the inlay. It turned out pretty well. I also had to skive the liner out of the wings to reduce the overal thickness in that area.
  10. When you start out a lot of folks see chum in the water and pounce on cheap work. It affords you learning so it all works out in the wash.
  11. I've been playing with a new snap on pancake for a few weeks now and after testing my ragged prototype I decided to make a 'new and improved' prototype, then I decided to overkill it. I've tried an overlay twice and neither were pretty but this inlay turned out pretty well for a first attempt. The holster is for my 3" 696 44 special, certainly room for improvement but there always is. The elephant is cognac from Springfield with a black antique on top to tone down the color some. Critiques welcome as always.
  12. Hey friend, that's an awesome job you did. Leather and canvas go together quit well!
  13. Is that a Wiley Clapp model? I have the hots for one in the matte stainless finish. The rig looks very very nice. Nice stamping!
  14. That bag set up is a thing of beauty, nice work as always!
  15. Beautiful, great work, clean lines, perfect execution!
