  1. I traded me some work for this Ruger SBH and I really like the little gun. Around my shop something isn't really 'mine' till it gets it's own leather to make it personal. I've been getting a few more requests for ammo belts so I pulled one out of my work bins I cut about a year ago and started working. I needed to do some 'product testing,' obviously Been wanting to make a scabbard since I started messing with leather so I made it into one big happy project. Everything is veg tan leather glued and stitch. The outside color is somewhat of an accident. It's usually a dark brown but after an anomaly it ended up a very, very dark brown with a reddish hue. I really like it but probably couldn't have created that color without a crazy happening with a foam brush and some water. The accenting colors of loops straps interiors and stitching aren't something I'd usually call my 'taste' but I think it come together perfectly. So here's to trying something new! She ain't perfect but she's mine. Critiques welcome as always!
  2. Thank you Josh for the compliments and the warm wishes! Thank you!
  3. It's been really busy around here trying to get things finished in time for Christmas. I've had a few more 'plain' rigs ordered lately which doesn't bother me too much, compared to my standard basket stamping rigs that all kind of blur together. I'm really proud of the last two rigs. The cuff was my first attempt at carving something, the customer liked the carving but thought it looked to plain. That was the end result. On the last rig I've had a hard time getting that design right and my stitches out of the belt loops. Nailed it this time. All of these were done start to finished between Thursday and Tuesday....I'm beat! Critiques always welcomed, and Merry Christmas folks!
  4. Hey SWFLholsters, ours were very similar in packaging. Only photo I snapped in the warehouse today was after the plastic and banding was removed. Pretty much the same set up it seems, the head unit was packaged exactly the same.
  5. We have a few HAAS in house, they are older CNC's though (take 3.5" floppys). Certainly an awesome home garage! Congrats on your new CB, my Cobra Class 4 showed up today and I can't wait to finish the assembly this evening.
  6. I've given Weldwood a shot a few times. Maybe I did not allow for enough dry time but the tack I got was really bad. I use the stuff from Tandy with their thinner, mainly because it works and I can buy it locally. Do feel that there are better options out there though. for the first 6 mo's I used nothing but Titebond wood glue. Problem with it is it needs pressure and time to set up. Now that I do belts that isn't so practical.
  7. Morning Dave, your pipe pouches are really neat. I have a family member that would just love something like that. I'm also really fond of that pocket organizer. Nice work!
  8. I like to use them on dog collars because of how they sit, and how they look. The first time I saw one in use it was this design in nylon marketed by a gun dog supply.
  9. I don't always catch your posts to comment, but I love seeing your work. I think both look great and that holster definitely has a nice ride to it!
  10. Man I love elephant, and you sure know how to work it to its potential!
  11. I can't speak for others, but a 1/4" slot after burnishing and molding fits my belts perfectly.
  12. I already messaged you but Feibings Pro Lt Brown for everyone else. Another member, can't recall who dropped in a post he coiled them after edging. I wet the entire belt to rub down the back stitching, stamp my mark, and edge. When done coil it, I put a rubber band on it to keep it coiled. Doesn't affect the wear of it but sure makes photos a lot easier.
  13. Shooter, I tried their oxblood for a customer this weekend. My project looks fuschia
  14. Shooter, your color choices are second only to the final product. Great work. What dye are you using?
  15. You would have to stitch before construction, meaning your patterns have to be pretty close. Keep up the good work. I'd suggest creating a belt blank to mold the belt loops and make break in easier on your customer. It looks like you may have partially done this, could be the photo, they just look like they lay awful flat.
  16. This little fella got slammed with orders the first 4 months of the year, to the point I quit taking them. Boy how I only thought I was ready for that I'm finally seeing the light of day and only a half dozen or so to complete before being back on top. I thought you fellas might appreciate some photo whoring since I haven't been around in a while. Nothing groundbreaking here but comments, critcs, etc welcome as always. This first rig was made for a K-22 6", with mine sporting the leather. It's 7/8 oz veg tan with a 2/3 oz pig skin lining and a 6/7 oz welt, a matching leatherman pouch, and a little 22lr 'bookmark' as my girlfriend calls it. The belt, like all my belts, is a 7/8 oz face with a 6/7 oz natural liner. This next one is for a 6.5" N-frame, a Model 57 no less. The customer waffled on whether or not to line it and after lining my first holster 'Katass style' with two layers of veg tan I told him that's how I was going to build it. The 'lock' I'm getting out of holsters in this style is far superior to a single thicker layer of leather. The holster is a layer of 6/7 and a layer of 3/4 with a 7/8oz welt, and the belt is my standard. The dump pouches are for 41 Rem Mag. This last rig is one of my favorites. After the order was placed I sent my customer an email with one recently completed, he was so torn of which style he liked most I told him I'd just make both. The holsters are for a 6.5" Model 24, both made with 2 layers of 4/5 oz and a 7/8 welt, one with a dump pouch for 44 Special and the other with a quick release reload. I like it so much I'm tempted to loose 3" of my waist and wear it......I might get mugged though I have my 4" 57 and 3" 24-3 posing for pictures since I don't have a long snout. So there you have it. Three rigs that are essentially the same, but all different and unique in their own right. I tell you folks one thing is for sure....I'm ready for some non tooled work to come my way!!!!
  17. Bobby was having issues from his supplier, both the 4" L-frame and Python are no longer available. This is going by the last time I talked to him which was at least two months ago. Generous offer too Joel. I'd offer but there are laws against shipping real firearms!
