  1. I haven't tried a sewn end cap yet, how do you keep the top from curling when you mold it? From experience the laced loops keep the cuff from sitting flush to the stock, it's better the way you did it. Good work!
  2. Ordered one from Rob last night, hopefully it's not the last. Quick and painless and he was more than willing to answer my questions.
  3. I have a bad problem with this but never realized what it was. Thanks!
  4. Love the color, very nice looking rig. I tried Tan-Kote once. It was like I had turned my dye on the holster liquid again - never again.
  5. I placed an order last Wednesday from W&C for 5 sides, 3 had to be split. I got the shipping notification this afternoon.
  6. I burnish with water, then dye. I can't get a clean line dying before initial burnishing. Then I use a hard felt wheel to apply the dye.
  7. I have a question regarding what is normal wear as well. I made my first belt about a month ago, after wearing it around for a month with assorted holsters (mostly pancakes) my edges, especially on the tip back to the end of my holes, are starting to show wear. Is this normal or is my edge not hard enough?
  8. Mernickle does this with a cross draw they make. Seems popular I see them alot on the S&W forums.
  9. After the oil I just used 1:1 Resolene to water. A few light coats rubbed in with a sponge brush same as all my leather projects. I like the sheen.
  10. Hey Mike, I use a #2 or #4 bisonette depending on the width of the project before burnishing. Maybe I put to much pressure on the edge?
  11. Don't think you could get it much closer, nice job!
  12. Chris, glad you have discovered a course of recourse and are actively pursuing it rather than being forced to sit back and take it. Let us all know how it goes!
  13. Seems something like that would be better suited to a backpack almost, nice work Dwight!
  14. That's really impressive work my friend, from another student!
  15. Chris, if it's not to much of a hassle PM me when your ready or send me an invoice on paypal, we've done business before. Regarding your little business endeavor, unfortunately there is absolutely nothing stopping him from doing it. It's not morally right but not everyone abides by the same codes of conduct. All you can really hope for is that you've built up enough of a fan base that time will weed his poor quality and inability to innovate out of the pack. My parents own a successful small business and I've watched them deal with these sorts of things on and off for 20 years.
  16. Chris, No where near as nice as the one I bought from you. I'd buy another if you still made them. -Robert
  17. Dick, sorry you had a bad experience. I started with W&C per recommendation and have used nothing but since, haven't had any issues. This has only been 5 sides over the course of a year as well. Springfield is still a top notch supplier and I use them for a lot of my supplies, quality stuff at an affordable price and quick shipping to boot.
  18. Thanks Aaron. I can see where laying the stamp further apart caused me to curve. The belt didn't have enough room for error! Usually this style turns out nice and rounded at the toe. I wasn't happy with it after final sanding but that's what it took to even the edge. Thanks Mike, take that as a real compliment.
  19. Thanks Nick, you always have something complimentary to say. Thank you! The dump pouch turned out well. Thanks Dwight, I find it relaxing and methodical. My arm disagrees sometimes but prefers it to running a 64" belt through the Boss. Thanks Aaron. I have never paid much attention to angle, I go with what my eye likes. What bugged me was the fact that the two angles didn't match. That you Matt.
  20. Hey Ferg, thanks for the compliments. I've struggled a bit on fading the weave without trashing the border of the stamping. My 1 year leather working anniversary was last weekend, maybe by this time next year those issues will be long gone. -Robert
  21. Critiques and comments welcome as always, this is my second glued and stitched gun belt and was for a very good friend. Think it took me a little over two hours to stamp that belt!
