Small Of The Back Holster
cleanview replied to horseplay's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I know someone who broke his hip from pocket carry.....does that make it wrong to carry in that position? I Carry appendix......imagine what i could sweep...... I dont carry on my hip IWB because it hurts my back A gun shoved in your pants can hurt you any where you stick it..... -
I get random "loose stitches". That is the front side of my holsters will have a random loop or little arch of thread. And I can go some time with out the problem and then it comes with no warning. Machine is a cowboy 3200 using 207 thread with a 25 needle.\ What are typical causes for this?

Yet Another Compatability Question
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Oh trust me I usually work my google skills and do the comparisons and verses this gun and that gun. I usually can answer my own questions...... Of course if I fail in this endeavor........that is when I hang my head and and come in here and the "once again " thread of shame has to be done....... and along the lines of what chiefjason says.........everyone that has the "oddball" (or less than popular) gun is convinced that even though I have never heard of it.....I will be rich if I start making holsters for there gun -
Yet Another Compatability Question
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Sage advice I just told him "no can do without the gun". The fnx is not as easy to find the comparisons on as other guns......bellieve it or not I do look before giving up and coming here. Oddly enough i looked at the info page above and reading the maime part of the page, did not see the info on the side. -

Ok. Tired of the method i am using. I use a 3/8 punch then the chisel method. I like the width of the slot that gives me. Can anyone direct me to a punch that would make a similar slot? Most i see seem like a lot thinner slot.

Double Layer Gun Belt Thickness
cleanview replied to Boriqua's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Just like you, I wanted to make the belts to go with the holster. I settled on a 8 and a 4 ounce to get me at .20 . My personal (first) belt is more at .25 and seem a little much. I recently bought a cowboy 3200 and it makes it sooooo much easier. -

cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes

Sig P238 In 938
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
When I looked at the blue gun and his gun, there was a slight difference in the slide with a micrometer. Did not write the number down though. I think I will draw the patterns off of the blue gun and just get his to mold the holsters just to be safe. I told him I would need the gun for a day or two if I had any doubts. Might make a third and mold it to mine and see if it works or not. Just a curious person that a way. If it dont work then it will be called a 938. I take projects like that and just sell them on ebay. I have two orders as a result of my most recent ebay "sell" Thanks again. -
Had someone bring in a Sig 238 yesterday that did not want to leave it. I compared it to the 938 and to the eye it looked the same. I did not measure though. Other than the barrel sticking out, could the 238 holster be molded off of the 938?

Revolver Holster Questions
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
yeah, I altered the stitch line ever so slightly after the one with the clip but see what you mean by bringing up the one under the trigger guard. the elusive stitch line is always the challenge. I don't "think" they will losen up that much but I have the one that I re did and plan on using it on the ranch with snake shot in it and will certainly watch with interest how it does. -

Finally back to having internet. Was not happy with the above pic, so made some changes to it and it was a pair that was ordered. Happier with these revolver holsters than any so far, only done 3 I think though. -

Have not been able to post as i have not gotten internet at our new place yet and i just dont like surfing on the phone. Another week or so before i get internet. Several outstanding comments. I am just getting to where i can know whether or not to be confident in my more regular holsters. Seems like new uncertainties withe the revolver. Will see if i cAn get a pi. Of a revol er i have been working on. -
Revolver Holster Questions
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Excellent comments and pointers. I am making two for one gun right now and am going to bring the leather up over the cylinder and see how it works out. Seems like every time I conquer obstacles, someone throws another in the way. I think the learning curves will never go away. thanks again -
Revolver Holster Questions
cleanview posted a topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Am I missing something? Really asking in reference to conceal carry. Unless the holster comes up above the top of the cylinder, there is no retention to speak of (compared to a semi auto). But it seems to me that coming above the cylinder would really mess up a draw and re holster. What I mean is that the leather above the cylinder giving retention would get in the way of smooth draw and re holstering Especially when carrying inside the waist band. I am beginning to think a thumb break is the only other option? And have really considered telling people I don't do revolvers, but don't want to do that. Really could use some pointers. I don't want to sell things I am not happy with and so far I just aint happy with my revolver holsters. I don't carry a revolver so I keep asking question to people that do, but there insight is not from a builders perspective...........that's where you come in (I hope). -
Glock 27 From A Glock 19/22/17
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
very informative. When I have looked for "comparability" before......I looked from the top looking down at the slide and the shape of the trigger........not thinking (why I still say I am new) about the bottom side area you showed. Hastack if you want to invoice me I will take that blue gun as well. the 26 27
