Yes I glue them before stitching. I use either Barge Cement or Masters leather cement. I prefer the masters only because it sets-up faster

There are many people who use a normal machine press with the jack for cutting with dies, you just need to add the table and cutting surface. cutting surfaces are available several places, I think I got my last one from Atom, I will look for a You can message me if you need and I will try to find you some numbers.

What type splitter are you looking for? One that you pull leather through, manual crank, or motorized? I have a bell knife splitter that will be looking for a new home soon. Dink

Hi Tina This is an excellent example at professional work, that needs to be show. I would like to attempt something similar to this for binoculars. Could you show what the top of the bag looks like with lid opened? Dink -

I am selling my Foredom powergraver. I thought it would be cool to make my own silver to put on my leather work. I just am to busy and have not got to it. This machine works fine but only has 2 graver and they both seem pretty dull. I have not ran it much since I did not have any practice material. This was an original machine that belonged to Gary Wiggins, he sold it to a person he was teaching and I got it from him. Complete system I am asking $250 for it. I also have listed the Jerimah Watt tape set that includes Cowboy engraving, Cowboy metal work, and Bit and spur making very good tapes that I have watched 1 time. I was asking $225 for the tapes but I would make a deal if you are interested in both for $400. If I remember correctly the tapes alone were close to $300 new. I wish I could give more info about this machine but I really do not know anything. I has an upgradedengraver style hand piece, flexible shaft, operating pedal, and speed control, I believe the motor is 1/4 horse power. I can send pictures if anyone is intereested. Thanks Dink

Hi TRacy (again) When I sent mail earlier I thought you were from Texas, guess I should pay more attention. Where are you located. I had a band knife splitter a while back. Mine was a Fortuna 620 in 12". I got it from Campbell Bosworth completley reconditioned for $3500. Though I did not end up keeping it. I do not know much about other models, but I do know that this one was effective on very light leathers, but it would not work well at all with veg tan. They are very complex machines and require constant adjusting when ever changing leather. I am sure others have gotten along fine with them once they figure them out. Operator error with mine is not out of the question either. If you want one or better info on them Dan at Campbell was very helpful and had some around. If you want to pick his mind call him at 1-800-223-6018. I am looking at getting the new Artisan 20" splitter as soon as they get more of them. Dink

I seem to have gotten in the middle of a discussion concerning what is better Nylon or the Poly Dacron thread. What do you all prefer and why

I would like to help but this is a pretty stiff requirement. I think you will have to find someone with a band knife splitter. How wide of strips do you need done? Dink

I just saw a good addition to this. It was a septic tank pumper that had a sign on the back reading, Caution This Truck Contains Political Promises!
