I cannot decide the correct place to post this so I will try here. Here is the question My bell knife splitter is on about a 4' long table with the splitter to one end and the motor toward the other. I need to replace the motor, and in interest of saving space I would like to shorten the table, and mount the motor directly under the skiver. In order to do this I would have to flip the motor around, and that in turn would revers the rotation direction. Will it work like this? would it hurt anything? Does this make any sense? Dave I run a Atom SE20 clicker. and Like was stated I cannot imagine being without it now. My personal opinion is that in a clicker you need at least a 20 ton if you want to do saddle parts this for the ease of heavier leather as well as a cutting surface big enough to work and lay stuff out on.. I have gotten all of my dies made from Texas custom dies and think you will be surprised at their reasonable cost, especially once you compare yours hours spent hand cutting. My clicker came from Tennesse but I were to look for another one now the first call I would make wold be to Dan at Randall (1-800-223-6018) they have all types of machines. I was also very impressed with their knowledge and customer service. I do not have the number with me for Texas Custom Dies but if you need it send a message and I will get it for you. Dink

I have a singer 29-4, It is a treadle machine but also has a motor and foot control. I do not know much about it. The little I messed with it (about an hour) it turns easily and would stitch4 or 5 stitches and then break the thread. I do not think this is a big deal, my guess is that it was the thread since I used some that came with the machine. or I had it threaded wrong, or a tension isuue? The few stitches it stitched wer really nice and uniform. I would like to get 350 for the machine and motor. It is near Colorado Springs Colorado

I can also click straps for you though I cannot make your dies I would need to get them made. But I have 4 different spur strap dies available now.

That is an excellent idea, I never gave any thought to solar, most places we go I can plug in, but not all. How does this system work does the solar charge batteries, and machine run off batteries? Dink

Good info, The machine does not have to be a portable. I am in process of finishing a very basic 8' x 8' permanent shop in the trailer. It will have the needed universal machine, a work bench, hand tools, a 3 in 1, and a landis splitter and storage for leather and hardware. Should be a cool little set up for the ability to work while we travel or have spare time. can take projects from my regular to work on or even do repair work. I am thinking this a clever idea right now but time will tell. You may find equipment in the for sale section soon Dink

Thanks Art I have all adlers now and am very impressed with them, that is the only reason I was interested in this machine. I am looking for a medium size Adler to have in my tack trailer. It needs to sew up to maybe 12 to 14oz. And a cylinder arm would be more practical for all applications than a bed machine. If not an Adler do you have a suggestion for what I am looking for in another reputable brand machine? Contrary to what I just said any knowledge about the Pfaff 130? I am glad you responded I have read many of your replies and it seems you have a very extensive and impressive knowledge of machines. When you really want a brain picking we can discuss a Fortuna 620 band knife splitter, it and I are developing a rivalry Thanks Dink

I have a old Singer 29-4 that also has a motor. I got this machine with a set of old leather tools I purchased and have not messed with it much. the little I did do it would stitch about 5 stitches and break the thread, So I think that is just a tension issue? What is the largest thread this machine will take? I want to get it stitching good more as a novelity piece but then may sell it, still undecided. any information about this machine and it's setup would be much appreciated. Thanks Dink

Th new machine that WEAVER came out with is a clone of the Adler 205 with I believe a 2" deeper throat. I have been very happy with my 205 but They are not cheap.

I use all adler machines and have been very happy with them though they are more costly. If you are still just looking check out www.oldcowpoke.com he has many machines of all types. Though I have not gotten a machine from him I did get a clicker and it was everything he claimed it to be. Dink
