  1. Hi folks, I have a question about the correct way to apply any acrylic finishes (Super/Satin Shene or Resolene) on top of EcoFlo Hiliter. I put hiliter as prescribed, wiped all the excesses, gave it to sit/dry overnight, buffed, ensured there are no residues on the fabrics. Then appled any of abovementioned finishes and.... I see some (and sometimes actually alot) of hiliter picking up onto the sponge/wool/dauber etc ... Well , I tried sprayer. I sprayed 2 thin coats and gave them dry for about 30 minutes after each application. Then went for couple of final coats with the same applicatiors and... I see even while putting a first layer with sponge , the hiliter starts take off and picked onto the sponge! Is there any ways to put finishes with no such problem rather than using the sprayer for all the coats ? May be I should wait more and let dry completely after that pair of initial coats I put with sprayer? How do you guys keep hiliter on the item not on the sponge? Or is it normal if it is going onto the sponge while finish apply?
  2. Thanks everybody, great info! Sylvia, no worries pls, I promise to be careful with brush handles
  3. Hi guys, What tool should I use to slick inside the belt slots (for instance on holsters) and inlay's windows? Can you please share processes you are using for it? Thanks in advance!
  4. You can put it into the box with just a traditional fine grained cooking salt. It will absorb most of oil in 1 or 2 hours. Then just clean the item with a dry brush.
  5. I guess I read somethere on the forum about using latex glue as a resist. That latex can be applyed with brush and after everything done can be easily pilled off... Does somebody tried this?
  6. Hi Kevin, I haven't tried such lightweigth version of that kind of punch with leather. In the heavy industry I know such a devices like a "Deep Throat punch". This is a version I had a deal with I also attached a video for how hand operated "big bro" version works on alu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFkzirSo8QM

  8. Well... then I'm baffled a bit because I have used exactly 3M and had such problems.
  9. Thanks, Richard! The pattern is in the Projects and Designs book by Al Stohlman. The only detail I've added to it is that 3" round braided lanyard. If you don't have (or don\t want the whole) such book, you may have the only this purse pattern from Tandy's Leathercraftlibrary.com for $0.99.
