  1. Thanks for reply! I actually forgot to mention I had tried to reset it. It helps for couple of days, then the same story back.....
  2. Hi everybody, What the advantage of using the hollow ground swivel knife's blade vs flat one (neat cut ends? easier and smoth pass of the scrolls? etc)? And what the cases when using hollow blade should be preferred? Thanks in advance!
  3. Wow! Thats a great guidelines, thanks alot for it! Very appreciate.
  4. Hi everybody, Is there any way to tighten segma snaps do not opens so easily? They were pretty ok initially, but after some days now they can be unlocked almost with no any force to it - just a little pull by 2 fingers Thanks in advance!
  5. Hi guys, I need to lace item's edge about 1 yard length with the double loop. I know what the TOTAL length of lace should be there, but it seems to be crazy to pull 7 yards of lace through the hole in the begining. So I'd like to split the lace. Is it there any sort of "general rule" what recommends the length of the one piece of strand for lacing an edge? Thanks in advance!
  6. Great job! Would you mind to share plans of this?
  7. Also simple cork block (from the ski shop for $0.10) works fine for me. And of course a beeswax as ChuckBurrows suggested.
  8. Just was about to give the same link
  9. Thats also quite interesting case. Ok, I took book from a lib, read it and return. But was so iinspired so I went to shop and bought personal copy. Does it mean I paid to author twice? First time being a tax payer and second time being a bookstore customer?
  10. You completely right about everything and I agree with you on this. The only thing you seem don't paid much attention is that most of the people would like to see what they are buying before pay. As for me, I love lieathercraftlibrary.com and bought some from where, but at the same time I hate what there is completely no any preview. Maybe I would buy more stuff there could be preview available. "Zoom cover... pages:57." plus short general description. Press "What I am buying?" - you see what you are buying PDF for your own use. Great. But why I can't have a look inside? I wanted to buy lacing book there, but could see the only page stated something about 15 different braidings.... What are braidings? Can they put at least names or TOC there? No. Well I downloaded this book from internet. I suspect it was the same copy gotten from LCL.com. I looked into it, found there exactly what I need and.... WENT to LCL.com and paid 7 bucks for it. But if I couldn't find it for dounload I doubt I will pay 7 bucks for just "something". If book is great, person who read "preview" and found it worth it's money - I believe he will pay for it. If the book is a shit and I don't want to have it on my shelf or in my Kindle, then I could use the whole book preview as it would be book from a library - quickly read it, closed browser and forgot about this. Thats just my thoughts....
  11. Hi everybody, I have a question about ecoflo dye, more precisely about the moment then it can be considered as "having final color". Background: I dyed Tandy's belt blank with Bison Brown and got gray-dark green color after leather dried.... "Well, thats a strange bisons they have there" I was thinking that time, but didn't worried much as was doing belt for myself and could survive with such the color I got. I put belt into box for souple of days, then finished it with satin shene - it had the same grey-greenish color may be just a bit lighter than initially. Well, I put it aside completely waiting until hardware arrives. Finally I got a buckle and everything I need to assemble belt, took that finished belt off the box it was stored for about 1 week and.... DOH! It turned into pretty solid, good tone of brown! Do you have an idea what was it? Was it kind of chemical reaction there? Or the more practical question: If I would make it for customer, how long should I usually wait until judge belt correctly colored (or otherwise - decide if it went completely wrong and start over?)? Is there kind of way to speedup the process having the final color? I would very appreciate any of your experience in there. Thanks in advance!
  12. Do you think getting a book from a library also can be considered as a stealing? If no, than what the principal difference between way suggested by Sylvia and using a library?
  13. LoL Funny For me as for non-native english speaker, one friend of mine born in Scotland has told "You can count you know english very well if you can understand what the Irish and Aussie guys talking about around you"
  14. Thanks, Dano! I am going to check it out there.
  15. Chris, My 2 cents: You should be proud of yourself as your tools appeared to be so great so somebody other start to produce copycats. Nobody will try to repro crap. And more your original tools will go up, more highjackers will try to build theirs copycat. One day you'll discover full of aliexpress.com is full of chinese replicas of yours stuff and then you understand it is kinda tribute to that great job and tons of efforts you put into your stuff. So take it easy and look from the positive point of view. As long as somebody wants doing something like you did - you are the best. Cheers!
  16. I was able to see almost whole that book at amazon's "Look inside" just searched for the "leather" word in there BTW: Don't know if it is a problem in US, but for instance here in Finland we have such books available in libraries for free....
  17. Hi everybody, I need to put together 2 pieces of 4 oz buffalo (quite soft) using lacing. The hem should be either like on the fisrt picture attached or like on the second one. The first type is preffered. So far I have tried mexican round , spanish double loop and applique stitches but all os them gives me wrong connection type - both edges are going up and form kinda ridge and this is not what my customer wants. Can you please suggest on what the braiding should I use to get the proper results? Thanks in advance!
  18. Yep, seems like that. AFAIK in Britain and by some reasons in Japan they often refer to (american) stitching(mostly) / thoning chisels as "pricking iron". You can see for instance here. Just close to the bottom of the page you'll see pricking irons. They both definitely can be used to get a cut piece off the hide I think. Anyway I am also confused a bit unless Chavez meant he switched to using dices instead of these chinese scalpels he bent while cutting. But lets wait for his explanations on this
  19. Sounds promising for both saving money on tools and saving money on gym. I definitely must give it a try
  20. Yep, you right. I read a lot here on the forum bunch of people usung screwdrivers, big nails , whatsoever to make petal tool off it. There are the only small trick you have to do with tool's heel - to ground a bit heel's edges and round em up for tool won't leave a marks by it's heel. Unfortunately all I have here around are just diamond sharping stones and files for such (possible) workout, and I doubt if I such a superhero to ground down the screwdriver with stone only. Maybe if I take Chinese screwdriver I could accomplish this in 1 or 2 minutes.... But with all the screwdrivers I have here its not the case. As for using gurus say it is pretty easy Put toe into cut and strike by mallet... The only you should care about is do not punch leather all way through...
  21. Thanks, Martin! They look awesome on these cuffs.
