Dom: Try searching for "Dragon coloring pages" They are usually simple. S

I was thinking a jig from a piece of wood with a V shaped notch and using a small vice to hold it and the tube. I do have a drill press...

I know the feeling. Sometimes it's tough to come up with a catchy short name that won't take half a day to type in the web browser. Some things to think about are 1. position in the phone book. There are reasons that people go with "A-1 plumbing" "Ace hardware" "AAA" These names position them in the phone book and other directories at the first of the list. 2. Names with unusual or difficult spellings. there are two schools of thought on this. If it's just difficult to be memorable then it's ok. If it's hard to spell and long and you can never remember if it's ea or ie.... forget it. Go with a first name if you can. 3. Alliterative names: "Bob's Burger, Steck's Store" (his name is Bruce Steckler) The repetition of sound helps the client remember the business name. 4. Names with which your target market can relate: If your target market is wealthy, you want a posh name like "Royal Caribbean" "Tiffany's" If your target market is self described cowboys... "Hitchin' Post" "Barry's Barn" I hope this helps some.

Now THAT is a brilliant idea! I might try to drill out the other end. Thanks!

Hi Craig Is this logo for your website, business cards... and other publications? If so you are going to pay through the nose on any of them to have them color printed. The printer will have to strip the image down to the color layers and they will charge you for that process. Then when they print... you will pay a set up charge for each color. Now, do yourself a favor and turn each of these logos into black and white. See what it looks like. I would be willing to bet it all becomes one grey black blob. The whole idea of a logo is to have a symbol that will instantly identify the company. Think of some of the big companies like Apple, IBM, and Merrill Lynch Apple is instantly recognizable and so they don't have to put "Apple personal computer company and other very cool electronics" on their logo. Essentially, this idea is "KISS" or Keep it Simple Sunshine. I hope this helps. Syl

Your best bet is to buy a copy of the manual. I found one for you here. http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-singer-111w155.aspx

:D Maybe your smeller is broke? It really smells like PineSol to me. Like someone is cleaning floors and toilets with the stuff. YUCK!! I can stand ammonia smells, mint, even lemon... and the old fashioned shoe polish smell. But the fake pine smell is nasty.

Dyeing Problem
Sylvia replied to whiteeugene's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I have heard some folks do that dampen first with water thing. I've never had much success with it myself. May I suggest you try dying a piece of the same scrap without with dampening with water or anything? If I recall my Fiebings says to use a deglazer before dying. So you may want to get the appropriate deglazer and try a piece of scrap that way too. Good luck. -
First let me say, I dislike the smell of pine-sol or any faux pine scents. Which is a problem because several of the products I've purchased smells just like pinesol. Gum Trag, Tan Kote, Bag Kote, all smell like pine-sol to me and frankly stinks to high heaven. So I come to my buddies here to ask for help to determine which products have this scent so I can avoid those products. Could you please list products you know smells like pine other than these?

Dyeing Problem
Sylvia replied to whiteeugene's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
When you dampened the leather was it with tap water for distilled? If you have particularly hard water, I know from tie dying,... it can change your color. I've not had it happen to me with leather dyes though. . Can you tell us what brand of dye it was? I feel for you. To me the dye and finish process is the most surprising and frustrating part. I hope you find a solution -
Dyeing Problem

Yep it looks gold! Hmmm... have you buffed it yet? I find that if I use spirit dyes and get over zealous in applying I get a metallic-like sheen. But when I buff, it seems to go away along with excess pigments. -
here here! I'll gladly accept old Stohlman books too.

Well, hmmm... Let me just say this. Opinions are like behinds... we all have them and they all stink. In the future, instead of spewing a statement like this in all CAPS....please try to offer an alternative resource which you prefer.

Not A Sewing Machine, But A Skiving Machine!
Sylvia replied to GrampaJoel's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
That skive does look really nice. And I love your table too. It would be nice to have a permanent space to work. Maybe this summer I'll get the garage arranged well enough I can take most of my stuff in there. -

Can you post a picture? I have got to see this "gold" purple. -
LOL oh yeah I can!! I got a mess of my own that would make any messy man blush.

they work great. I even used it on my ceramic beader blade from tandy that came kind of rough.

I'm going to say "thank you for the suggestion" instead of "oh boy here we go again!" lol I have other knives with standard blades and I don't want to futz up my keen edge. BARRY needs to stop being a (expletive) and either make a jig, or an adapter to fit the keen edge and have it available to for sale. ohh... don't get me started. lol I've heard that Chuck Smith has a tool similar to Keen Edge but they have yet to answer a single one of my dozen or so emails.

Have one... and it won't work with Barry King's blades. In his wisdom... he's made the shank of his a few mills LARGER then the standard Blades. So the damn thing don't fit in the keen edge. I love the knife... but that little tidbit pisses me off about it. LOL

Oh what I would not give to get a good look inside that treasure chamber. LOL

You might be able to brand the letters in with a wood burning tool or a soldering iron.

Thanks!! LOL Some how my mental image of you being a biker and zig zagging your finger snap..... isn't quite right! No, this is just practice since I've never done a dragon before. This design is just a bit to wide to fit on a 3 inch strap. I might color it and send it to the guy as a "gift" I know his wife was looking for a brass dragon for their wall. I had a hard time with getting those claws right with this Gawd Awful Barry King straight blade... I swear it's like a full 1/8" thick. I guess I'm going to have to learn how to sharpen that hollow blade after all.

That's why you break up your time into segments. 10 minutes "today we are doing this" 10 minutes.. "here's how you do it" 20 minutes "practice and trouble shooting" 20 minutes "clean up and review/ how did you do?" Your hyper kids aren't too bored and the ones who want to do it... will sit and work as fast as they can. Gosh I just flashed on a program I truly believed was ran by Jim Henson of Muppet fame. We had a puppet making workshop...LOL It was fun and I had that puppet for a long time.

Did this in about an hour. I used my swivel knife, speed beveler and a modeling spoon/stylus tool. I did ALL those scales with the knife. (ouch) Since I have 2 more tools I can use I may go back and do some more beveling... with a different tool. Anyway here it is.

I keep mine rolled skin side out. and standing on end IN a box that can keep it from unrolling. I don't like rolling it the other way because it causes the surface to wrinkle and there is NO way to get that out.
