  1. Hi Justin: Wow she picked a hard one huh? Good for you for giving "figure carving" a shot. Here's what I see that you can improve: The ears are a bit too pointy. Next time try rounding them a little The mouth of the howling wolf on the glass is angled slightly toward the viewer and on the leather you have made it a side view. The lower jaw needs work too. the front wolf's head is wider between the ears on the glass and the inside edges of the ears come down farther on the head. The eyes are not that angled on the glass and the muzzle on the front wolf is wider and more subtly indicated. I don't want overwhelm you with suggestions. Just curious, how did you go about tracing this?
  2. hmmm.... If I were to attempt something like this I would use a screen print method normally used on Tshirts and banners. The trouble I see with that though is the inks are rather thick. I did find a few videos on printing on leather at Youtube. Here's one of them showing printing on a chunk of wood. here's one of the flat bed printers. http://www.kmajet.com/leather-printing/
  3. Learn HTML5.
  4. It's a cleaning solution here in the states. Made by the lysol company I think. Now there are other scents thankfully. http://www.pinesol.com/index.php?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=pinesol&utm_campaign=Branded Thanks for asking. It forced me to look it up and along the way I found out that "sol" in Pinesol is Phenol.. Maybe that's whats making the stuff stick to me.
  5. ha ha ha!! you might have a point there. After a rare attempt at cleaning with pinesol... I'm not sure it's the pine scent now.... I think it's the "sol" sent. Like "lysol" and pinesol" There is just something about it.
  6. LOL that's a little something extra I don't think anyone would want. he he he... nice of him to offer though. S
  7. this is the debut of mine. I've not shown it at all.... nor have I used it on a project yet.
  8. Hey! That is really good CC! Now go form it into a tray for your TV remote, keys, and trinkets, since you think it will be too small for your stool and laptop tray.
  9. Hi shooter: I make guitar straps from some rather thick and stiff leather. In order to soften it... somewhere during the process after tooling. I use either leather balm or neatsfoot oil and work the leather, bending it toward the flesh side over and over until it becomes more supple. . Now... I have had issues with some dyes not taking, so I recommend you try a few things on some scrap pieces and see what it does and develop your own "best practice." BTW... I never introduced myself to this forum... never will. If they don't know me by now... they will never never never know me.... or so the song goes. Welcome to the forum. Let us know what you learn from your experiment. Syl
  10. Have you tried a small tine pricking iron?
  11. Mappy Hother's Day! :D

  12. Well, I tried to do an analysis of the image using a graphics program, turning it black and white, inverting the colors, changing it to a pencil sketch... etc. The problem is, ... I can see L, Co. and Maker but the flash glare obscures the part that identifies the maker. I don't know if the image will help... but I'll include it just in case.
  13. Well, If it were me... I would take this horse head, and capture the tracing image, put it in a graphics program... size it up or down... and put the clock face around it. Can you describe, exactly what the pattern you are looking for looks like?
  14. Thanks for the explanation! I deal with the smell of pine things but man after about 20 minutes of that smell... I'm ready to quit and move on to something else.
  15. Well, here's a horse head pattern from tandy Library https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/p-1462-horse-head-how-to.aspx? Shouldn't be too hard to find the clock too. S
  16. Hi Chief: Thank you! That's very cool. I've seen that type of work before and thought... "Dang!" lol Applique is correct btw. Syl
  17. The green chili's are near the bottled Salsa. Ortega is the brand I see a lot in Idaho. You could also do that trick with a tuna can if you needed to. I've made oodles of pin cushions with clean tuna cans. If you want something pretty small Viena Sausage cans are about the size he's talking about.
  18. They look fantastic Chief! Can I ask what the black lines are on the back side of the belt? I can't tell from the picture. Syl
  19. Jax... way down toward the bottom is an area for selling things. Under that is a place for hand tools and stamps. What do you have you need to get rid of? BTW... I found a place with the rose leaf stamps you were looking for but they want 16.00 usd plus shipping and I"m not sure they ship out of the USA. Let me know if you want the link.. I'll pm it to you. Syl
  20. Ha! I am afraid my impeccable grammar and punctuation fall by the wayside on forums. What's worse is that the more fatigued I am, the more likely I am to think one thing and type another. Usually, it's words that are completely unrelated to the original thought too!
  21. LOL I'm afraid they would let you take it unless it was in those little shampoo bottles. A friend of mine sent a bottle of expensive wine with his friend who was returning to England... they make her throw it away. You could have some shipped I suppose...but wow that would be expensive.
  22. Well, they do! ha! I guess I am alone in this. Oh well.
  23. Very nice find, Jon. bookmarked.
  24. I'm sending you a PM
  25. Pardon me? That didn't make a bit of sense to me. Care to rephrase for me?
