What Did He Use To Print This On The Seat?
chancey77 replied to FHL FERG's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
I had this really long rant about the difference between a biker and one who builds bikes and some hot shot wanna be that in the end should have been well....pretty un-needed to even be spoken...I deleted it and just left that. ANY WAY!!! I have built so many bikes out of sportster frames it would make your head spin, that is not what i was talking about or saying and this is all just well....REDUNDANT! You 1 out of 100's of thousands may very well be a biker, call yourself that and be seen as that by other people...but as I am referring to I have been EVERYWHERE! And I have seen a lot of great rallies ruined by wanna be jerk's.....I have ridden through countless 1,000's of towns with places that call themselves biker bars and all they have on the juke box is Michael jackson and Brittany spears and no pool table and crappy food. COME ON! Are we seriously going to debate what is a stock sportster and what is a custom built mean machine from hell! I think we both know the difference, not sure why we are wasting time even typing! <here is a high five and a cold beer for ya! -
LOOKS GOOD BLUESMAN!!!!!!! SWEET GUITAR TOO! I LIKE THE FRETBOARD INLAYS!

7 tools?????? Good God wormans where is the challenge in that?????? hahahahaha Maybe the next challenge all you can use is a ice pick and a blind fold! Now there is a challenge and make a picture of the Thinking Man....hhahahahaha OMG JUST KIDDING!!!!!! I don't know...I think 7 is WAY TO MANY!!!!! How about you just say you can use whatever....I rarely use 10 including a hammer, ruler and wing divide, stylus, computer, as tools...if you want to count what they actually are:) Heck there is 5 we always give people anyway! I don't know...seems a little to much, but maybe we take a vote! IF YOU ARE FOR 7 TOOL CHALLENGE JUST WRITE 7 OR WHATEVER NUMBER 1,2,3... IN YOUR REPLY TO THIS. WE HAVE 3 DAYS TO TALLY THE VOTES. THINGS NOT CONSIDERED TOOLS ARE: Hammer, ruler and wing divide, stylus, computer, AS ALWAYS! THOSE ARE GIVEN FREELY ALREADY:)

I have been working like a mad man this week...but just practice, practice that beveler...I lay it flat with the angle and just lightly let it ride the grove/cut line and then come back with more pressure applied if I am working towards myself, then just more pressure on the back side, and away from me more pressure towards me. And I go over it until I am happy with the burnishing effect. But it already has an angle, I only really tilt it when I am in a very tight spot, or just bust out the old hammer beveler...I have been doing so much with the sw.bvlr, that I just recently started going more for the ole' hammer one to get my smoothness technique back...t didn't take but a few minuets, but it is good to use both!!! Especially since the hammer one doesn't give a dark burnish that I like on stuff that is going to remain more natural in color. And you do get much more depth with the hammer beveler:) So if you are working something heavy 8+oz's it is good to use both! My 2cnts:) BTW! 3 days left on the Challenge:) EVERYONE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB THIS MONTH!!!!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT AND LEARNED SOMETHING DURING THIS MONTH.

chancey77 replied to Miloradovich's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Thanks brother! I love pans too!!!!! It is just one of those things that I do I guess:) It seemed to make since when I started doing it and I continue to do it as well...I think it started by outlining letters on belts at first then it progressed into seats and pictures as well. Anyhow, much appreciated! L+R! C -
yep getting there and I will show it now when done:) Client can only afford 50hrs per month, so I am making other stuff in between his job:)

chancey77 replied to Miloradovich's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
HEY NO SWEAT!!!!!!!!! I learned a lot from my dad a very long time ago....but I am mostly self taught since i decided to pick it up for a real job...hahahaha If you can call it that! Cheers! Feel free to drop me a P.M. if you have any questions...maybe I can steer you in the right direction or tell you enough to just get yourself into trouble! LOL LMFAO!!!!!!! Chancey -
Here is a seat I did about 4 years ago. Still looking pretty sweet, and I finally got back to the garage where the bike is now last weekend and go some pics and gave him a fresh oil and waterproofing for this riding season. It looked like he had been taking care of his leather which made me very happy:)

Alligator Hide How To And How Not To
chancey77 replied to Bluesman's topic in Exotics, Reptiles, Furs and others
I was just trying to save you some headache, and help steel you in a direction of educating yourself on the different tanning processes:) Have some ribs for me and enjoy the skin! Ya horse hide would be GREAT! -
Don't sweat it Jimbob! My magical music box has plenty of Muddy, Hopkins,Wolf,Walter and Hooker in it as well...I'm no one trick pony! I also got a large collection of Western Swing and miles and miles of Country to go along with my seemingly endless collection of Blues and Hardcore:) Sometimes you just need some High Octane to get you through the late nights! Thanks by the way:)

Alligator Hide How To And How Not To
chancey77 replied to Bluesman's topic in Exotics, Reptiles, Furs and others
I could be wrong, but I am 99.9999999% sure I am not!.....I am pretty sure you are S.O.L for finding a Veg Tanned Wild Gator,Farm Raised Gator or ANY GATOR. The region you live in and that I grew up in are the ones that tan those hides. THEY DO NOT VEG TAN GATOR! Alligator has it's own very specific process to tan. I believe if you had a vegetable tanned Gator it would just feel/ look like rubber seriously a SEMI TRUCK TIRE WOULD BE EASIER TO CUT AND WORK WITH. The Gator is unlike any other reptile or animal for that matter....Salt Tan and Lutan-F soak is the recommended procedure. Veg tans use Lime anyhow, so it would ruin the black color you are searching for. Salt tan and Lutan maintain the natural color and what it is supposed to look and feel like....GATOR:) It is not a tooling leather...I am not sure why you would need veg tanned gator and this is maybe why no one has answered you about this in more than a week because no one wanted to come forward and throw you in he fire or... no one knows.....but I can tell you for sure, it would be like having a discolored tire! And a tire might actually be easier to deal with. People have been tanning Gator hides for a very long, long time, believe me if there was a way to veg tan it...it would already be in practice! So go get the salt hide or order some real GENUINE BOVINE that is veg tanned and wet mold it over the gator. But don't call the tannery and make yourself seem like a real tool for trying to tell them how to tan gator hide. You could just end up Gator Bait! Ask any taxidermist and read up on tanning processes, you will see why certain skins are tanned the way they are. -
no...already did their belts a while back...and no time for that...bracelets,and heavy key lanyards with all brass hardware....
