  1. Had a long weekend at a clubhouse making stuff all weekend...I need some recoup time:) I will get back on the doors 2morrow:)
  2. I vote Black Knot and natural:) Black and Tan!
  3. NICE! And now you have some new letters you can put your name around it:) That is a good way to transfer... That would be my 2nd/3rd option. That is going to be a wicked Knot!....you could write T U I T in all 4 corners...in those new Sheri letters:) You've been quiet that last couple days you must be hammering away on your next one! Nice!
  4. I like your attitude! Nice Jib!

  5. WOW that is a very beautiful Holster! I am not a yellow guy...but hey I don't have to wear it to appreciate that ROCKIN' color Combo!
  6. Figue out where the stamp is going to go first...so if you blur and it is no good; you didn't f' up a finished piece:) (insert Superman dudududun du dudu) Captain obvious to the rescue! lololol No seriously...... Try tilting the stamp after your first good whack forward back left right and then center again.Don't lift it off the leather! Hit is about 6 times! Post up a picture of your stamp! It would help if I could see it...But treat it maybe like a cheap tandy letter stamp.
  7. Thats me, good time Charlie! hahahahaha Seriously...those letters are RAD!
  8. I am sure the Secret Sheridan S.W.A.T Team will be banging on my door dragging me off to jail any second from now.... That alphabet was bought and paid for in 1965:) So whatever!!!!!!!! Enjoy! I hope someone hooks me up with something cool sometime! You owe me one...LOL The Black background was the original one, and the other one is inverted...so whatever works best for ya:) I did it so you could see the O:G and how it is supposed to look...whatever that is supposed to mean...supposed to .....HA!
  9. Drag and drop these into your desktop!
  10. Check it out blues man!!!!!!! Listen to a Florida boy!!!!!!! Order some Belly and use that, If you want some of the back pieces Tandy has Caiman baby backs. They come in White,Black,Tan, if you get the white you can dye it. I suggest for the front where you want to put in a strip of Cow Hide for sure use the Bellies. Use Cowhide the width and length/shape of the strap as your BACKER then cut out the belly where you want the Text to show through GLUE LACE/SEW your belly to the Cow Hide....Or Horse ASS (which it seems you are attempting to use now before I save you)! hahahaha Or you could just use the backs and get some real sharp blades to get through the Back Horns... It is going to be nearly impossible to get a straight edge on the backs so that is why I say for that section you use the Belly! There you go guy! A reasonable answer to a reasonable question! LUV YA! hahahaha
  11. I have a sheridan letter alphabet I have been meaning to scan it anyway. I will post 2morrow:)
  12. I am not sure what your application is but Brass Pelican Hooks for boats are almost the same and they have a lock. Look for the Pelican hooks made in Sweden they are labeled with a big Sweden text on the side. But 15 is the going rate if you don't have the right stuff to make them, buying them is much less of a headache for sure:) Those are some sweet hooks and the Japanese do make some sick metal stuff...so you can't go wrong with knifes of hooks or tools from japan...they have been specialized for 1,000's of years in metal work.
  13. For small stuff like sheaths I have used textile glue, it if flexible stays sticky and doesn't get hard. The formaldehyde glues and made more for woods than leather. There is a product called LEATHER WELD....that is what I used to use, but they don't have it here in Finland...so I am stuck with Spray Glue, Textile glue(available at any craft/ hardware shop), and standard contact cement. Super Glue is for sure NO GOOD for leather.
  14. WARMOUTH BODY SHIPPED OUT TODAY! I love it when things are moving forward:) I can do other things with my thumbs now! like hahaha
  15. Hey thanks for all of your advise...I am going to attempt another Johnny:) Maybe not on just a scrap piece:) And put some time into it when I am not rushing! Ya know since I moved to Finland it has been very hard to get little things...especially finding a Neatlac, about the best I can find local is a spray that is basically spraylac. So I make do without some things, but it has been a lot of fun finally meeting lets see ok ya 4 other people in all of Finland that do this kind of work:) HAHAHAHAHA So that is why the guys that are supplying to the Boot makers here which there are 1,000's of...don't cater to us AT ALL! They could really care less:) But hey, DIY is the way I live anyway and always have! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SOME HELP WITH JOHNNY! WE DON'T WANT HIM ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE THAT IS FOR SURE! I am breaking new ground for myself this year and I am attempting to get as much info as I can on this kind of leather carving. As most of you know I specialize in Tattoo styles and day of the dead, BUT REAL PEOPLE...that is very tough! I will post up my new CASH here when I am done... AS Y'ALL KNOW ,I AM VERY BUSY, SO I WILL TRY TO GET ONE DONE IN BETWEEN ALL MY OTHER FIRES BURNING:) AGAIN... THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Yep I should have reversed what I have now on the bottom of the chin and jaw area:) That was 1 hr of work tooled and dyed...this dog needs to slow down! I know that is one of my problems with this particular piece, I rushed a way to much...and when it wasn't looking like what I thought it would i just rushed it more...like pulling off a bandaid:) OUCH!!!!!! OK it's over... At first I really hated it and that is a bit rare, but after I dyed it black and added a wipe down of silver it was much better:) Well good enough to post up for some feedback and tips:) I hope 50 years leather can help me on some good advise:)
  17. My first attempt at a picture of a full face, this is on a test scrap before I change the art work...the shadows from the original picture don't match the light source...but I had fun attempting to capture the Man In Black:) I am going to do some figure carving so i was testing my tools and stamps if they where going to be up for it:) Any tips welcome! I tried not to cut what should be beveled. Then I 2 toned it with Silver and Black. Does it still look like Johnny?????? Not sure but I think it is close.) A better drawing would help......
  18. Ya I can get just enough info out of it to get myself into trouble! hahahaha This book was printed in 65 which is when my dad bought it. He quit doing leather work after about 1985-87??? Hard to say, but Hurricane Eliana took the roof off the porch...a wet book was the least of our problems. I re-wet the pages and managed to get the pages separated but the top is well....destroyed:) I have rarely even attempted this kind of style on leather, so until now I have not really needed it:)
  19. Forget the chat! LETS SEE SOME NEW KNOTS!!!!!!!!!
  20. I managed to get the pages unstuck from my dads old figure carving book, that was on the back patio work shop when it was damaged in a hurricane and the box stayed back there for a very long time until one day on a trip home I found the box and all it's golden treasure...this book though has seen much better days...I think I may need a new one...what do ya think! hahahaha On the 52 tele project i am about to do I for sure need this book as a reference since I haven't done any figure carvings like this delicate with precision in so long.... I thought you might enjoy this! (it's not my fault I didn't do it)! A storm did! I really hope I can get some help from the folks that do Figure carving a lot to help with this 1952 Tele reissue project!!! I am all for learning some old tricks! I am all ears and thumbs:)
  21. 52 tele pics updated today:)

  22. I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH...YOUARE WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a compliment! SERIOUSLY! OUT THERE!!!!!! Always looking forward to what you pull out next...it is like a magic show:)!!!! What's in the hat what's in the hat???????? OMG!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!! COOL!
  23. So ok day 1 on the disassembly of the tele and we decided to sell the good Nitro Shot BEAUTIFUL piece of Swamp Ash from fender 52 tele reissue..it was perfect and instead of plaining down the finish that is going to melt when I add the glue and since Nitro shot guitar bodies are rare in Europe(all poly) we are ordering a exact licensed Fender 52 reissue plain wood Swamp Ash body from Warmouth, and sell the body to help fund the project. I gave the guitar back to the client so he can play it while the other body is shipped here in a few days and also play his current boat anchor and get to know it a little bit before we blow his mind with what a guitar should feel, play and sound like!!! ....but that being said.... Kaisa Chancey has already started the original artwork for the guitar and I may or may not post pictures of those until she is done......SHE MIGHT KICK MY BUTT IF I POST THEM NOW....but I can tell you she is amazing!!!!!!!!!!! And almost has the front done. OK maybe just a taste......
  24. That is why these guys are so awesome!!!!!!!!! Great idea Paul! Course grit Sand Paper 20-30 grit! Is exactly what I thought of when I read that too! And 50years leather is right about the wood grain as well....these guys are on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Gold Textile paint works good and flexes, but you have to heat it up with a heat gun or iron ...
