I Made Myself A New Wallet
J Allen replied to jayjay's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hey Jay, Here's a little tip to make the interior side of the lacing look better. Take your modeling tool and use the spoon to push the pooched out leather at where the lace was pulled through the slot to kind of tuck it back into the slot. This will make the interior look cleaner and finished. Hope this helps!. -
Hey Yeti, After going to the website I wonder why you didn't get the impression this was a flimsy outfit to begin with. I did a bit of research and found out this is nothing more that a guy with a computer and selling Tandy items bought straight from the Austin TX Tandy store. Minimal stock and once a few items are bought online, a trip is made into town to get the stock, package it and out the door. Uses Tandy's photos and stock numbers. Lists the items at Tandy's Non-member price. Not faulting the guy for doing it, deserves to get paid for his time ans effort but... Heck if you want that, shoot me a pm and I'll do the same thing for you.

Can anyone tell me why I see other folks profile pics as myLW'r background and how to change that from happening?

Fresh Off The Bench
J Allen replied to tkirwan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
So what you are saying is since no one would provide you with the pattern, you thought about what you wanted, designed and then created something unique and useful. In the process you learned valuable skills and was given the ability to decide what you liked about this model and what you would change in order to make it better. Critical thinking skills were exercised, creativity was stirred and you accomplished more than a project, you created. You my friend... did good. I have much more respect for a craftsman who sees a need and creates, than a monkey who relies solely on the fruits of some other person's work. Well done. -
Patent Infringement: Shotgun Concho Dog Collar

Is this jackleg selling his stuff somewhere? Etsy or otherwise? Or did he just get the patent to irritate and intimidate people? -
Patent Infringement: Shotgun Concho Dog Collar
J Allen replied to HellcatLeathers's topic in Patterns and Templates
What a tool. The first leather item I ever made... back in 2004 was a bracelet with shotgun conchos. Unfortunately I have no photos. Next thing he will patent is a "leather currency holder with recessed artistic impressions" then claim he invented the carved wallet. I'd love to see a ton of leatherworkers rise up and create a band with bullet elements. Just bombard this turd with potential litigants and he wont be able to fight everyone. Not defending EVERY attempt will also void his patent or discourage him from trying to prey on people. -

It mounts with screws just like the factory pick guard. -
Something To Soothe Some Tortured Souls...

The film is cheap shelf paper from Walmart. I use it to minimize stretch while tooling. It "usually" doesn't transfer the sticky stuff like packing tape. Here it is finished, well except for the edges. I'll finish them up in a bit. Cyber summed it up, just ironic, iconic tattoo flash. -
Ok, missing a bit of love around here, so I thought I would throw out a little WIP ( work in progress). Telecaster pick guard with shameless swiping of a iconic bit of tattoo flash. Showing some love and props to my tattoo brethren plus it is rated PG to boot. Need to do some dying, but that will have to wait till another day. J.

I have decided to not offer these in kit form. Instead I am going to sell the dies. To those who responded and to those who showed interest, thank you for your input and insight. J.

Wood: Part of the drawback to this is if you sell one , most folks would just rip the design to poster board and never buy another. The lower cost might entice those who value time might buy more than one.

If I were to do this, there would not be any assembly instructions. If you can not take three or four pieces including a liner and make a business card case when two smaller pieces look like pockets and one larger piece looks like a back... I dunno, maybe the buyer should be looking to do something else. Not trying to be an ass, just realistic. For me to sit down, take photos as I assemble a three piece business card or a three piece bil-fold would add time and cost. maybe I'm wrong. The benefit to the buyer is a quality "kit" (precut pieces) that fit like they should with nice corners that goes together with a finished look without any inflated cost. I'm thinking a business card case at $5.00 each. Maybe the credit card wallet for the same $5.00. 4-5 oz veg tan with 2-3oz pockets, pig liner.... Just throwing out my thoughts. J.

Generally I remove the dye and spray it till it is clear, cycling the feed until I get little or no color spatter. I then, if water based dyes run clean clear water through at full blast/feed until it is completely clean. Remove the water and cycle again until nothing but air comes out. I then run isopropal alcohol through the same cycle. The alcohol will help remove the water and evaporates quickly. Generally after a few times of doing this I take it apart and clean it manually. I usually dissemble and soak in alcohol then clean. Allow to dry and then lightly oil and then assemble. Run alot of air through it before re-using it after the oiling so you don't have any oil spatter when you use it again. If I use oil based then I generally alcohol spray and then clean after 2 or so uses. Hope that helps. J.

I got a ton of these little tubes from a distributor of medical supplies. The are great for rivets, crystal bling, spots, small snaps and other small fasteners. They are 4 5/8" tall and have an 1 1/4" opening. It is marked to hold 2 oz of liquid but you can see in the pic the one with the rivets in it, that is a bunch of Tandy's small rivet package in the container. These are very convenient as the top is not removable, it flips open. It accepts sharpie for identification very well. ____________________________________________________________ In the spirit of full disclosure, these are UNUSED breast milk sample bottles. They are seal packaged in groups of 10 and because the packaging is sterile, they have an expiration date. The date has expired and therefore not suitable for medical use. That means they get thrown away or re-purposed. These are not chessey cheapo containers. Well built and very suitable for small part storage. I am looking to sell these for $10.00 for 10 pieces. That is a shipped price. I'll do $18.00 for 20 but that is the best discount I can do. Shipping will be via USPS. Shoot me a pm with your interest, along with a quick post here to let me know to look into the pm's. Thanks! J.

I have a few clicker dies for a few items I have thought about selling as "kits". Things like a very simple 3 piece wallet, a business card case and a credit card sleeve wallet. I can even use the same dies to make a simple little coin purse. They do not have any holes for stitching or lacing so the buyer would have to be a bit more advanced to get them ready to assemble. They could be clicked with a liner or without. I wonder if they are simple enough for folks to be able to assemble without an instruction sheet as that would take additional time and add to the cost. If you can't figure out three or four pieces of a simple "kit" then maybe these are not for you. I do not intend on sending any pattern or designs for tooling either. Again if folks can not figure out a design then? I was just wondering if there is any interest in this kind of thing. I could click out in veg tan or offer a few exotics. Just a thought...

I am looking for a pimp bone folder. It could be bone as well. I want a nice one, high end and a show piece. I like the ranch2arena HSBT Edge slick with the brass middle. Looking for more options though. Show me your folder and suggest where I can find me a nice one.

I have three lightly used stamps. I am pretty sure only one has been actually used on a project (the pin-wheel) the others were bought and tested on scrap and never used again. The first two are by Horse Shoe Brand tools, Jeremiah Watt's tool line. These are priced new on ranch2arena for $60.00 each. From Left to right. Crazy Leg-Windmill block 3/8 inch Swirling Star 3/8 inch The far right tool is from Barnes/Hackbarth. This is currently priced new at $48.00 3 Point Propeller right at 1/2 inch I want to sell these as a group if possible so they will be priced as such. $100 for all three. Shipping included in the US. Outside the US add $10 Paypal is best. If there is greater interest for individually pm me.

Funny thing about posting on a public forum... You comments unless addressed to the person before you say it, is directed to everyone. Even if you point a particular person to it, it gets read and commented about by everyone. So sorry dirtclod, you were talking to everyone. It is my personal opinion that if you want to post every thing you have ever made then do so. If I dont want to see it I am a big boy and have the ability to not click on it to see it. I can scroll on past. Everything posted is an inspiration to someone. At the same time it might be an irritation to another. The irritated ones should grow up and move on. Just sayin....
