  1. Thats okay, Chief. The one I need to make is a 9mm as well. I'll just make up a pattern. I was concerned about the laser sight on the pistol. Did your pistol fit loose? Is that why you put on the retention strap? Tom
  2. I have found the quality to be very nice. The dye job in good and the edge dressing is good. I always burnished the edge a little more. The leather has been nice and flexible. I have had a few that I sent back because they were dry and brittle. Tom
  3. Nice work Chief! Really like the colors you chose. What kind of Taurus is that with the laser? A fellow wants me to make him a holster for his Taurus PT111 G2 Millennium that also has an under the barrel laser site. Would you be interested in sharing your pattern for this? If not thats ok. Anyway, really nice work! Tom
  4. Thanks for the kind words, Camano and Bruno! The customer really was pleased with it.
  5. Camano, Thanks for the advice on the pattern scan. I will try to attach the PDF's now. Hopefully someone will find this pattern useful. Tom Scan0001.pdf Scan0002.pdf
  6. Made this for a guy recently. Just a shoulder strap holster for his muzzleloader. 10/12 oz drum dye mohogoney and all hand stitched. Tom
  7. Just wanted to update this thread on what I came up with. The man was very happy with what I did. I used 10/12 oz drum dye mohogoney bridle leather. I scanned in the pattern in case anyone is interested in making one. Thanks for all your help.
  8. Very nice! I really like it. Love the woven rope stamp.
  9. Thanks, Camo! Your description was pretty clear. The sketch will for sure help. He did say it was a percussion cap pistol. Thanks, again. Tom
  10. Thanks, tboyce! I don't know the dimensions. He said it was a "standard" size muzzleloader pistol. But, Thanks!
  11. Camano, Thanks for the reply. Picture #3 is what my customer has in mind. I was hoping someone had a pattern of the that style. Is that the "L" style you were describing? Thanks, again! Tom
  12. Would anyone happen to have or know where I can get a pattern for a muzzleloader pistol holster? The ones I have seen look pretty simple to make. They look like a loop that the pistol fits in and then has a belt loop sewn on. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom
  13. If you mean the "Master Tools" maul then I would say they are very nice. I have the 22oz and th 3lb one. They have a rubber hand and replacable nylon striking surface. I really like mine and the price was great.

    Snake Skins

I think it was Andie?? From Andie's Tack and leather. She is in Florida. Don't know her screen name. Update: Her screen name is: Andies Tack
  15. lranger, What air brush are you using? Where did you get it and what is the cost. I'm about to throw in the towel and buy one. Thanks, Tom
  16. Just bought the 22oz and 3 pound Master Tools mauls that Weaver Leather sells. They are very nice and the price is reasonable. Got them on the Weaver Route truck and paid no shipping.
  17. Oltoot, you crack me up with your humorus explanations and tidbits of experiences you have had! I'm with you on the decorative seat stitching. This seat is going to be plain. And closed-cell it is! Thanks again. Tom
  18. Sorry for the late "Thank you" for your replies. I have been away the last two weeks. Bob, I thought about the stuff that Al uses in his book but thought it might be to soft. And I don't think it is closed-cell. The stuff from Sherian Leather looks good but It seems 1/4" would be to thin. Weaver sells 1/4" stuff as well. Oltoot: Why is the closed-cell so important? Is it because of water? Thanks, again! Tom

    Getting Set-Up

Sounds like a great winter project. I will look forward to seeing and reading about your progress. I my start my first saddle this winter as well. Tom
  20. I need to put a padded seat on a customers hard seat saddle. I am wondering what you all would use as the rubber padding. How thick should it be? I saw Weaver has rubber seating that is a 1/4" thick. I would think 1/2" would be better. Any insight anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  21. Thanks for the information. I have a cantle to re-sew after I install a new padded suede seat. I am going to order the Jerk Needle and hope I can figure out how to use it. Thanks again, Tom
  22. Thanks, Electrathon. But WHY would I need to use it sewing a cantle binding? I have sewn one binding with the two needle saddle stitch and at times it was pretty hard to do. I have another cantle binding to sewn and was wondering if the jerk needle would help me. I am just not sure how it would help or how I would use it. Tom
  23. I see Tandy has a Jerk Needle for sale. It states that it is used to sew cantle bindings. Can some one tell me what a Jerk needle does and what it is used for? How is it used, does it make cantle sewing easier and is it something I should have? Any info you can offer would be great! Thanks, Tom
  24. JayMack, in your dilution ratio, what part is the 4 and 6? Are they the dye or the alcohol? So, is it 4 parts dye to 1 part alcohol or 4 parts alcohol to 1 part dye?? Tom
