Thanks for the pic Big Sioux. I will try to post it here. Now I see what you mean.
Boriqua, I got a flyer in the mail with summer specials. The code "Summer2016" is good until the end of June. Just type it in at check out on their web site.
Jeff, you are right it does need to be flipped.
Big Sioux,
Thanks for the guidance. I can't see any picture if you posted one but I understand what you are saying. The beader I bought is the one Weaver Leather has for $29 ($26 if you use their Summer2016 code when checking out). I guess I will just have
to play around with it before I decide to throw it in my box of "unusable" stuff! I have attached a pic of the one I bought.

I just bought a beader from Weaver Leather (on sale for $26). It is the PULL beader. The instructions on not that great that came with it.
Should I wet the leather to use it?
What kind of line should I be getting with it? Should it be like a swivel knife cut or just light scratch type line? Do I cut a line with a swivel knife and then use that as a guide line to cut line next to it? If I try and use it with not guide line it is impossible to keep the line straight. The thing wants to run to the left when I pull it. I just don't know what to expect from it. Seems to me I could just use a swivel knife to do what this does. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Unfortunately Weaver does not have a "Top-of-the-line A pile". They only carry TR leather or Economy. Their Hermann Oak is only TR. I like their service, tools, hardware, and other supplies, but for leather I WILL shop else where.
I work part time at a Harness shop / farm supply store. They spend $10,000 or more a year at Weaver and they got the same letter as I did. So It doesn't seem to be base on passed years sales.
I got a letter the other day from Weaver Leather stating their new wholesale policy. In order for me to continue receiving wholesale pricing I will be required to buy $1200 worth of product a year. If I don't I can purchase a membership (like Tandy's gold) for $200. They said it was to stay competitive. That doesn't strike me as competitive! How is it costing them money to keep me as a wholesale supply buyer?? I like Weaver Leather but I also like other suppliers as well. If I don't comply they said I could buy from their retail site. Have you seen their retail site prices? Double if not more than their wholesale pricing! I guess they have enough customers and, in fact would rather encourage us to shop else where. I'm just a small one man shop and do spent over $1200 a year on my supplies/tools. I just do it a multiple places because Weaver doesn't carry everything I need or always the quality of leather I prefer. What are others thoughts on this change? I know Weaver Leather has people on this site and wonder also what clairafication they can add.
Thanks,
Tom
Using Tandy's Water stain I don't seem to get ANY color transfer. I really like them. They come in lots of nice colors. I am starting to use them more and more over regular dyes.
Just found out, to my disappointment, that our Harrisburg, PA Tandy store will be closing at the end of April.
The people working here were really great to work with. I will miss having a store 60 miles away. Are there more closing? Is Tandy in trouble?
Weave Leather sells some really nice punches. Their Master Tools line is top notch. They are sharp right out of the package and cut smooth and easy. The Osborne punches I bought with in the last two years were dull and pretty ugly craftsmanship wise. I'd go with the Weaver Punches IMO.
I have used Sheriden RTC Resist and Finish with good results. I first put it on heavy with a sponge. Let it dry 4--6 hours and then put another coat on, but not as heavy, and let it dry 4-6 hours. I will then use an antique gel or a Hi-lite stain from Tandy.
