  1. Thanks Spyros! Owner picked up the seats, he did seem pretty happy. I'm not sure he knew who did the upholstery job, and I sure don't need the attention. I'm happy to just sit in my corner and sew! LOL. I have worked at places in my past where they want me to answer phones and make the deals. I can do that, but it does take me away from what I love to do, pattern, design, sew! I was just happy he was pleased. Thanks, yes workstation is a great start, just added a plastic folding table to the back of it temporarily. I ordered a table with wheels so I can be portable. They can move me around the shop as needed, depending on how many cars we have in at the time. I like my own little area. It's a little too close to the Boy's bathroom, but oh well. You cannot have everything! LOL. Today, I have to finish a boat interior, then the rest of the day I'm hoping to set up my new Sewing Table. I've got a couple of wood shop tables I built a few years back that are 4'x4" and 2'x4", used in my sign layout (part of my own business) and prep area. I no longer need them for that purpose, so I'm going to shorten them up to the height of my sewing table, then alter the tables to fit my new plan - dedicated sewing table with extensions. I think it should take about a day and a half to get them all ready. Then I'll have a really great sewing table and it won't cost anything. Well, maybe a couple more wheels and some nuts and bolts. Not bad! Toxo, yes I just discoved Cechaflo on youtube a few weeks ago. Wow! That is mesmorizing what he does? He goes so slow, so careful and exact. Love his work. No words, just video. It's really skillful what that guy does. You only see his hands.
  2. Tequila, Yes, I am doing good with my new machine. I am lovi'n my Juki 1541S !!!!! Luckily for me, no problems with the machine. It came with no Instructions on how to use the machine, and no instructions on how to assemble. But It wasn't that hard to do, just took some time. It was missing the drawer and I noticed that right away. Dealer has yet to send that. After assembling it, I noticed there was no belt either. So called them again and they told me that's not included, but the listing they had on their webite said it did include belt. So I told them I read it included belt and they should probably correct that, so they said they would send the belt too. LOL. In the meantime, I went to the Auto parts store and got myself a belt so I can get sewing right away. Couldn't believe it, price was about $30!!!! Anyhow, got it running. Dealer has been fine and the shipping time was not exactly as they quoted initially. Took twice as long, but these days it's nothing to complain to loud about, right? They did answer the phone each time I called, they were polite, also they addressed the issues with the missing parts. Got the machine at Jacksew.com, I would buy from them again. Theya re fast paced, but I was able to depend on them. Yay!
  3. Tequila, Very good to hear you got her up and running, then kept going even after things got a little hosed up. Good job! Also thanks for the update on Company you purchased from! So glad that after your extended waiting time on the shipping, you are happy with your new machine! Sounds like you are bonding now!
  4. Maria, Well it's still a treat to see this machine run! The paint and decals are just the icing on the cake, right? Fantastic project! Very interesting too! Thank you for sharing.
  5. Stewart, Looks like a fun project. Looking forward to seeing the steps!!!
  6. Lizzie, Hmmm, I have the Consew 255 machine, no belt guard on mine. So I am not quite sure what to say about removing it. So I am just saying Welcome!
  7. So I think you are pretty good at this paint stuff! Do you have a background/work in the painting business? You do make it all seem simple. The mark of a pro!
  8. Maria, you are amazing! You are very fast too! I cannot believe all the things you have gone through with this machine in such a short time and she stitches. Yay!!!!! So, now I have to ask... Any plan on what paint and/or decals might look like?
  9. Shoepastcher & Constabulary, No worries! My Old Sewing Machine Repairman (82 years old - Love him!) gave me the part number to begin with, which was found on the part he's replacing. Problem is, it was just partial number, not the entire number. Seems just about every place I contact for replacement part is confused about what the full part number is, or the extra digits that go to whichever model. So, I did order the replacement part, 91-018-481-05 to be shipped directly to him. If it's not right, I'll get a cranky phonecall and it will be him! LOL. Hope it is right, but it's okay if it's not, I'll just try again. It may be "3 is the charm"... that's what happned with a couple other sewing machine parts lately. Must exercise patience! As always, I appreciate your help!!!
  10. New Machine - Juki 1541S - All put together and stitching perfectly! Her name is HOPE. Well, that's self explanitory! LOL Hope she runs - every time!
  11. Okay, thanks Glenn for verifying! Correct part got ordered yesterday and sent directly to my Repairman.
  12. Constabulary, Thank you Friend for coming to the rescue! Okay, off to order that part (again). My trip on the Ferry to see my Repairman will have to be put off til next week. I'm going to ship him the correct part so he can get Pfaffalina all fixed up. Turns out, the Parts Company I bought from thought the Pfaff 545 and the Pfaff 145 took same part, bu Repairman tells me that is not right. Anyhow, now I know the full part number, thanks to you! Much appreciated!
  13. Good luck Atomic. Looks like you have gotten some great advice here. I don't have a machine like yours, but would like to have something like it someday. I wanted to say what Wiz said, why not just ask for another spring. I realize sometimes have to break things in and all that, but this spring thing is pretty fundamental. I have taken flattened springs out of old machines and stretched them out so they work again, and even trimmed one up before. But those were old machines. I did a little search and found a youtube video that went over the Foot Tension on the Cowboy CB4500 machine and different things you could try. Good luck to you! Please let us know how you do!
  14. Thank you Spyros! Well, the biggest challenge were the rounded corners that frame the 1" straight rows on the main seat face pieces. The reason for the challenge is that my poor Consew 255RB does not have a high enough lift to conquer the many thicknesses, then the layers get even thicker as you are rounding those curves, which made it impossible to do in a very smooth manner. Too much tugging and stuffing under the foot while trying to tame all the layers. So I moved to another machine in the shop that has a higher lift for those areas. That machine is a Juki 1541S, plenty of lift on that machine. Thus the reason for purchasing one myself! I'm setting it all up now, today I make my first stitches on my own Juki 1541s. So excited! Now I'm ready for another curve ball or two! LOL.
  15. Tequila, Yay! Now a toast!!!! To many happy days sewing! Mine (Juki 1541S) arrived a few days ago, but I wanted to hold off with my announcement until you got your machine too. Appears you may have spent your day yesterday like I did, unboxing and setting up a machine. I'm doing same today, gonna run my machine!!! Best wishes to you!!!
  16. That's right Dragon Lady! We are Kindred Spirits! I started my life in the Offset printing business. I love Lithography, Serigraphy, Offset, Screenprint. Have done all those things and still do the Screenprint. One of my shops is dedicated to Screenprinting - carousel printer. The other dedicated to Commercial Embroidery. But I also like patterning and designing, so like most of us Artsy Fartsy types, I'm all over the board! LOL. You are mechanical too I seel! Super Cool! I love it when you can comfortably co-exist among the guys while they do their thing too. I think it's important to express yourself in whatever way you feel like doing it, even when it may be a little harder because perhaps you are not as strong. But your "strength" could come in other ways. You can help eachother out. Personally I forget that I'm a woman when I'm creating things. But sometimes (like today) I overdo it and go home with a sore back. Always a workout, isn't it? Oh and that sewing machine you are lugging around looks H E A V Y !!! Thank goodness you have some help! What fun to see it all coming together. I'm so excited to see the needle bar moving up and down. Great video!
  17. Chuck, thanks so much! You can be sure I have also been envious, seeing all the beautiful leather work and sewing machines you all display on here. I haven't been able to show my work, at least I felt I shouldn't because I'm working more with fake leather or vinyl lately. So I'm glad you haven't all sent me away yet. LOL! I've done a leather Aircraft interior, but that was 10 years ago. My work in leather is more to the wholesale trade, I do quite a bit for the Auto and Aircraft folks. I'm having a ball doing the Auto Upholstery for my friend's shop and feel happy to ve surrounded by very gifted people. By the way, the Plymouth Fury was a great car wasn't it? Our family had one too, lots of drives to the beach, crusing down the coast in that car. Good times. Mtl Biker - Thanks for your nice words and the congrats on my new Juki too! Don't worry, just keep dreaming and there is one for you too! After 3 days looking at the boxes (I was too busy) I unpacked them all and put the machine together. Had to go to the Auto parts store 3 times before I got the belt right! Auto parts guy gave me wrong size, his mistake. He grabbed on 5" bigger than I asked for. LOL. Then I over-corrected and got one a little too small, 3rd time was just right! LOL! He called it a Goldilocks thing. T Sunkasapa - I appreciate that! Thanks for commenting, means a lot to me! Garyak - Thank you kindly! Oh, I do have a lot to learn! Lots of things I want to do! Oh boy, you got a Ford Fairlane? We had one of those too growing up. I think it was my favorite car back then, parent's car. Funny, that car seemed kind of small way back then. But I test drove one a few years ago (v8 Engine) and that car was a rocket! Fred, thanks for the Wow! Well that is a nice compliment and I needed it! Jrdunn, Thank you! Much appreciated!
  18. Hello all you Pfaffers, and everybody! Okay... Pfaffalina is in the shop - she's my Pfaff 545-H4 & she needs a "Hook Waser".. This part goes below the bobbin basket. I'm pretty sure the correct part number is 18344, but there are some other digits possibly before or after that I need to know. Apparently it's easy to get this part mixed up for the Pfaff 145 and the Pfaff 545. I was sent the part for the Pfaff 145, but need the part for the Pfaff 545. Hope that makes sense! Can you guys and gals help me out please? Thanks so much! Old sewing machine repairman says get a Pfaff part, not aftermarket. Apparently the one I bought and sent to him for Pfaffalina was made in China, so he says it's aftermarket. Thank you thank you!
  19. Welcome New Girl, and a Crazy one! Love it! I like the little story behind the name.
  20. Last photo is the new Juki 1541S - which I will need (Higher Lift) to keep doing jobs like the one above. So excited! Today I'll be putting the Juki machine together and hopefully do a faster job at cranking this stuff out. Hoping for no problems with the new machine! This whole sewing machine purchase thing has stressed me out but I am feeling better now that shipment is complete. I'm used to paying far less for old machines! I have purchased a few brand new, but it has been a long time! Hopefully the "New Girl" runs like a champ and starts making money quick! Wish me luck! Also, I want to thank you all for answering any of my questions recently about the old Consew 255RB. She is running as good as she can now and will be going to a Friend of mine soon who is really in need of a machine. A very talented young guy who can do just about anything. I know he's going to put that machine to good use!
  21. Okay Seamsters and Seamstresses, Please go easy on me - this is the back bench a late 60's Plymouth Fury I have just reupholstered. I'm including a "Before" shot of the front seats, plus an "After" shot of the back seat. Sorry, I didn't have before and afters of both, but it's a complete set and finished!!!! Not real leather, but hey... there will be real leather jobs to come!
  22. You are the Dragon Lady! Great job so far!
  23. Oh boy, I like all greens. Green is my favorite color. That's s nice green too! But I like the Volkswagon much better. Just kiddin! Seriously though, you could paint that machine neon green and I'd still like it! In fact, I have a Neon green and Ultramarine Blue carousel printer (for tee shirt printing) in my shop. Haha!
