  1. OK I was able to open your web page and saw your paddle, very nice work. Are you putting anything in-between or just the two pieces of leather and are you sewing in a belt stop? Would it be possible to see the inside of the paddle? Thanks for your assistance, I am still learning that this site is so helpful...
  2. robertmeco, I went to your web site but did not see the paddle in your photo gallery. Maybe you could send me a picture at skianofsky@Hotmail.com thanks...
  3. Thanks I will give them a try, On the leather paddle, do you put something in the center or just two pc of leather?
  4. Does anyone know where to purchase Paddles for holsters, standard size rounded at bottom and has molded into it the belt stop which holds and keeps it in place. All I have been finding is the new ones made out of kydex for holsters that can rotate 360 deg. Thanks Gainesvilleman I would prefer just plain black that attaches with two screws.
  5. Those are all great ideas, I will sometimes use 1,5 oz. leather and cover it. This will make a very nice lining for your project, and no one will ever know how bad the piece was to start with.
  6. Are your patterns still available? I would love to see them skanofsky@Hotmail.com thanks Stu...

  9. You might try in the future to use oxalic acid prior to any work on the leather, It would not hurt to use it on this leather before you go any further. Good luck.
  10. I bought a GA5-1R, and am very pleased with it, it will do a lot more that my PFAFF 1245 won't do, it does have botom marks, but like someone else stated it does not bother me at all. Once I finish the leather it is barely visible.
  11. Hey David how you doing, I lost your phone number, was going to tell you I got the new machine. A G5A-1R, so far I like it, it can sew heavy leather. My PFAFF 1245 is still used only for the thin stuff now. Drop me an e-mail or call thanks Stu... 352-317-7034
  12. I received my GA5-1R on Thursday February 6, 2014, today Friday open it up and put the table together and set up the servo and the machine. The presser foot lift is 3/4". I sewed through 4 layers of 8-9 oz. veg/tanned leather with no problem right out of the box, did not see any marks on top or bottom so far. Played with the stitch length seemed to work ok, the reverse worked fine also. I was sewing 277 bonded nylon on top and 138 on bottom. I'm looking forward to sewing on it, my PFAFF 1245 will be my back up machine now. I welcome any and all comments, I do not post very often but I do read and learn from Leather workers network.
  13. That is what I sew on my PFAFF 1245 138 top & bottom, I was looking for something to sew the heavier thread with, oh well back to the drawing board thanks Stu...

  22. I use one horse about 5' long, I put one hide on top of another and seperate the hides by the type of use, I also put my embossed cowhides there also. The only problem I have run into is sometimes I have to go digging through the pile to get the hide I want, but I can live with that. I put the horse on wheels so it is easy to move around and turn.
  23. I don't roll my leather, I use a home made saw horse and lay the leather over it grain side up, I keep it as far away from my work bench as possible and that seems to keep it clean. If anyone has an opinion on this let me know, thanks Stu...
  24. Just to set the record straight, I sold the PFAFF 134 H3 and bought the PFAFF 1245, now that I got it going, it sew great. Thanks for all the help.
